Published on by The Book Dutchesses10 Comments

After participating in the Magical Readathon this month to earn my O.W.L.s. I realized how much I really enjoy doing readathons. Books I’ve had for awhile finally get put on my TBR and it’s just fun to participate in a big group reading adventure. Two friends of mine from Fangirl Pixie Blog and Sometimes Leelynn Reads created the Seamaydenathon. This runs the whole month of May. Click here for all of the information. You still have until the 28th to sign up, so what are you waiting for? Go take a look.

Today I’m going to talk about the prompts and the books I want to read this month!

Bookish Item | Ranking the Harry Potter Movies

Published on by The Book Dutchesses3 Comments

I know it says Bookish Item, and then I put movies in the title but hear me out haha. After doing the Harry Potter books ranking, I also wanted to do a movie ranking. And it seems weird to not have that as a bookish item after that last post. As you might have read in my latest Royal Update, I watched all of the Harry Potter movies and realized I may not have watched all of them before. While it seems unlikely that I didn’t devour the movies like I did the books, there were so many scenes I didn’t recognize that I’m pretty sure I didn’t watch movie 3 through 8 before last week. I really feel like watching them all over again now but I’ll first give you my ranking of the movies!
Obviously there will once again be spoilers Continue reading “Bookish Item | Ranking the Harry Potter Movies” →

Bookish Item| Magical Readathon Update

Published on by The Book Dutchesses7 Comments

Last month we posted our TBRs for the Magical Readathon (Part 1 & Part 2) this year. We both set up a TBR to get our O.W.L.s. We’re both terrible at completing readathons, so we thought that by posting something about our progress would maybe help us along. We’re at the halfway mark now, so let’s take a look at our Magical Readathon update. How are we doing so far?

Bookish Item| 5 On My TBR – RomComs

Published on by The Book Dutchesses4 Comments

I’m always looking for new memes to do on the blog for bookish items on Friday. On Twitter I heard about a new one 5 On My TBR. This is normally done on Mondays, but I’m moving it to Friday, because it works just a bit better for our schedule, haha.

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook and you can learn more about it here or in the post announcing it. It occurs every Monday when we post about 5 books on our TBR. RomComs was the prompt for March 23rd, but I love them too much to not do this one! Let’s take a look at five romcoms on my TBR.

Its nice to have something to comfort you in these trying times, and for me Harry Potter has been one of those things. I adore the series (and the whole wizarding world) with my whole heart. But of course we can’t love all 7 books entirely equally. So today I wanted to show you all my ranking of the Harry Potter books. Let’s dive in!
There will be spoilers 😉 Just in case haha. Continue reading “Bookish Item | Ranking the Harry Potter Books” →

Bookish Item | The Forgotten TBR Challenge

Published on by The Book Dutchesses3 Comments

I pick up books only to put them down before ending them all the time. So I have quite some half read books and that needs to change haha. The quarantine seems like the perfect time to read all those forgotten books. I’m challenging myself to read (or officially DNF) all these book before the Corona crisis is done. Assuming it’s going to be at least two more months haha. So let’s see which books are on my pile of forgotten books! Continue reading “Bookish Item | The Forgotten TBR Challenge” →

Bookish Item | Magical Readathon 2020 TBR – Part 2

Published on by The Book Dutchesses1 Comment

Last week Candyce shared her TBR for this year’s edition of the Magical Readathon. And today is my turn! G from Book Roast puts so much effort in this readathon and it’s probably my favorite readathon out there.

The idea of this readathon is to sit your O.W.L.’s. And to help you pick which O.W.L.’s (and N.E.W.T.’s in the next readathon) you should ‘study’ for, G created a Wizarding Careers Guide Book. You pick a career (and possibly an extra training) and it tells you which O.W.L.’s and N.E.W.T.’s you need for it. So let’s see which career I picked! Bookish Item| Magical Readathon 2020 TBR – Part 1

Even though I really end up failing at readathons after making a TBR, I still love trying to see how far I get. I enjoyed the winter edition of the magical readthon last December and was excited to give the O.W.L.s. a go! This readathon will take place the whole month of April and was created by Book Roast. You can find the video to this year’s readathon here.

Today it’s time for my 2020 Magical Readathon TBR. Isabelle will be posting her TBR next week, that’s why this one is part 1. Let’s take a look!

Bookish Item | Book Beginnings on Friday: House of Earth and Blood – Sarah J. Maas

Published on by The Book Dutchesses2 Comments

It’s time for another Book Beginnings on Friday! This meme was created by Rose City Reader. The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that. I don’t know how often we will do this, but it seems like fun from time to time. Today’s book is House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. Continue reading “Bookish Item | Book Beginnings on Friday: House of Earth and Blood – Sarah J. Maas” →
