Jay Kristoff is an author I hear a lot about online in the bookish community. So far, I have only read The Illuminae Files that he wrote together with Amie Kaufman. His book Lifel1k3 has been something I want to read for quite awhile, so when I had the chance to buddyread it with a few people, I signed up!
As you all probably know by now, I love watching tv shows! And I love checking out new tv shows. One of the shows that just started is Roswell, New Mexico. The trailer looked okay and I saw a lot of actors I liked in other shows so I wanted to give this a try. I haven’t seen the original show and wasn’t sure I would like this. It reminded me a little bit of Star-Crossed, a 2014 teen show with aliens and ‘star-crossed’ lovers. While I liked that show, I didn’t love it and wasn’t really looking for something similar. The Kingmaker Chronicles is a trilogy I’m a big fan of. Amanda Bouchet is an amazing author, so after reading those I was excited to read she was working on a new book. Nightchaser was released at the beginning of the month. I was so excited when I got my ARC on Netgalley, so thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I got to read and review!
I first heard about The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells in one of Emily Fox’s booktube videos and thought it sounded pretty interesting. And then I found out all four of them were available on Scribd. So I binge-listened to them super quickly. They are novellas so they’re all quite short and you will go through them in no time at all. There will be a full length Murderbot novel in 2020 and I’m very excited about that. But for now, let’s see what I thought about the four novellas. October is a month for spooky, supernatural or creepy books. As you know Candyce and I both participated in a Spook-a-thon, and for one of the challenges I read Contagion by Erin Bowman. I was already interested in this story when reading the synopsis a while ago, but when a friend told us how amazing the audiobook was I knew I had to pick it up. I have seen the book Starstruck around quite a few times, but didn’t have the chance to review it then. The author offered me a copy to read and review. I’m starting to be more interested in science fiction, so I was excited to read Starstruck.
Earlier this year I reviewed the book Stage Kiss by M.F. Lorson and loved it! Now she is back with something completely new, The Exchange! A time travel book with a little bit of romance.
