Review | The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things – Carolyn Mackler

The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things is an older book that got a modern makeover on its 15th anniversary. I ended up reading this, because I requested The Universe is Expanding and so Am I on Netgalley way too long ago, haha. I didn’t realize it was the sequel when I did.

So I decided to listen to the first book on Storytel, so I can finally tackle one of the overdue ARCs on Netgalley. Keep on reading to find out what I thought of The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things.

Bookish Item | Isabelle’s 2021 Beat the Backlist Bingo Part 1

Candyce and I started thinking about our reading goals for next year and came across the bingo from Beat the Backlist. We always try to read more and more of our backlist books and this year we want to try the Beat the Backlist Bingo. There are 2 options, one with 24 prompts and one with 52. I’m going to be super ambitious and try to do the bingo with 52 prompts. Candyce and I both wrote two posts with all the prompts and the books we think we’ll use for them. Officially you can use any book published before 2021 but I want to use only books I’ve gotten before 2021. Let’s jump in! Tag | The Bookish Thanksgiving Tag

I haven’t lived in the States for quite some time, but my family and I still have a small Thanksgiving celebration. It’s something I grew up with and plan on keeping this tradition going. So I decided to do something holiday related on the blog today with The Bookish Thanksgiving Tag!

This tag was originally created by Erin & Becca on YouTube. Let’s take a look at the prompts for this tag.

TTT #160 | I’m Thankful for Representation

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is a Thanksgiving Freebie, an I’m Thankful for… topic. And I choose I’m Thankful for Representation!  I want to highlight some great diverse reads. We all know representation is important and we have a long way to go. These are all books with some kind of representation that I really enjoyed. So let’s jump in! Continue reading “TTT #160 | I’m Thankful for Representation”

Review| Well Played – Jen DeLuca

A couple of months ago, I read Well Met and it was a fast and fun read. Even though I did want a bit more romance. The sequel, Well Played, released  at the end of September and it was the October swoonalong read! Today I’m going to talk about what I thought of this book!

Down the TBR Hole #42

Again, I’m writing my next Down the TBR Hole pretty close to my previous one. So, I don’t expect any wild changes, but I hope to get my want to read list on Goodreads to start shrinking!

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

Mini Reviews | A Dead Djinn in Cairo & The Haunting of Tram Car 015 – P. Djèlí Clark

Every month I get the Tor.com newsletter and with that comes a free ebook. Last month that was The Haunting of Tram Car 015. That title immediately grabbed my attention, probably because 015 is my area code, and I looked the story up on Goodreads. I found out this novella was the second in a series and that the first short story was for free on Tor.com as well. So I decided to read both as soon as possible. And I’m so happy I did! So today I have a mini review for both stories. Let’s jump in. Continue reading “Mini Reviews | A Dead Djinn in Cairo & The Haunting of Tram Car 015 – P. Djèlí Clark”
