It’s been a while since I watched Teenage Bounty Hunters but I still wanted to write a post about this Netflix show. I started watching it just to see what it was about and I was pleasantly surprised! So let’s talk about Teenage Bounty Hunters! After joining forces with a veteran bounty hunter, sixteen-year-old fraternal twin sisters Sterling and Blair dive into the world of bail skipping baddies while still navigating the high stakes of teenage life.
Teenage Bounty Hunters is about twin sisters Sterling and Blair. They’re from a very religious family and go to a religious school. Sterling and Blair accidentally get into bounty hunting with a guy name Bowser. The show is both about them capturing bail skippers and their teenage drama. And it was FUN!
I’m not religious myself but I loved how religion was done in this show. With a lot of shows I feel like they might make fun of religious people or make them out to be crazy. But in Teenage Bounty Hunters I think the religion aspect was very well done and respectfully done.
There are 10 episodes with very high ratings. The lowest rated episode got a 7.8 and the highest a 8.9. I think most people weren’t expecting much from this show but were all pleasantly surprised. As was I! This show was really funny and I got super invested in Sterling and Blair (and their love lives haha).
It was not all fun and games, we also got some serious storylines. The girls are religious and we see them navigate a lot of themes, for example the possibility of being queer and about abortions. We also see storylines about race and about ‘class’ differences. I really liked how this was all done! There is also a bit of a mystery going on with someone who’s skipped their bail that is spread out over the whole season. I loved the conclusion to that mystery.
A second season would’ve have been amazing! Unfortunately it was announced in October that the show was canceled by Netflix. I think the first season is still worth the watch though! The show might not have done as well as Netflix hoped or it might have to due with the pandemic but unfortunately we won’t get anymore Sterling and Blair. I’m still very glad I watched this show and would love to get recommendations for shows that surprised you all, so let me know in the comments!
