Tag | Try a Chapter – Netgalley Edition Part 3

Isabelle has done the try a chapter book tag a few times and recently decided to do this with older Netgalley galleys. We started the blog almost 6 years ago and Netgalley was a big rabbit hole when we discovered it.

After a few years, I’m not sure some of these books will be for me anymore, so let’s do a try a chapter tag to see if the first chapters makes me want to read more. I’m trying to increase my ratio and also give books a chance, so this seemed the best way to do it. Let’s take a look at the three books I chose for this week!

WWW Wednesday #33

It’s Wednesday, so time for a new WWW Wednesday to talk about my reading progress and plans. I really love these posts and talking more about what I’m reading before the monthly wrap up. Even if my reading plans change I like thinking about what I’m going to read!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a WWW Wednesday and I’m actually doing this post a bit in advance. So my reading will look different when this comes online, but I still wanted to share!

So it’s time for my next WWW Wednesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words and you participate by simply answering three questions:

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

TTT #280 | Books on My Spring 2023 To-Read List Part 2

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books on My Spring 2023 To-Read List, Candyce did a part 1 tot this topic last week and today I’ll share my list. I’m a mood reader so I mostly just pick up whatever feels right in the moment. But I do have some books I really want to read in the coming months. So let’s take a look! 5 On My TBR | More Than One Author

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.

This week’s topic is more than one author. I know I have some books written by more than one author, but I’ll definitely have to think about it. Let’s take a look!

Down the TBR Hole #97

Last time I ended at 881 books on my want to read shelf on Goodreads. After writing that post I actually ended up reading one of the books in that post and it was amazing! So I’m starting off with one book less on that shelf this week.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

Review | The Burning God – R.F. Kuang

I’ve finished my second series of the year! Can you believe it? Never have I been this up to date with my finishing series reading goal. Could this be the year I actually manage to finish 12 series? I finished The Burning God and with that the Poppy War series. And of course I wanted to share my thoughts on the final book as well. So let’s jump in!

Bookish Beginnings On Friday | Anatomy: A Love Story – Dana Schwartz

Lately we’ve been using our bookish beginnings on Fridays to start tackling out Netgalley backlist. Besides our Netgalley backlist, I’m also trying to work on my physical backlist and want to talk about a book I plan on reading today after blogging. Anatomy: A Love Story is a young adult historical fiction that sounds amazing!

This meme was created by Rose City Reader. The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that.

Tag | Try a Chapter – Netgalley Edition part 2

A little while ago I used a try a chapter tag to see if I was still interested in the older eArcs I haven’t read yet. While I was excited for them when I requested them, my reading tastes have changed a bit and some of these books just aren’t for me anymore. I have not nearly enough time to spend it on books I don’t enjoy or I’m not excited about so I have to make some decisions. Let’s see what I think after the first chapter! Can’t Wait Wednesday | Slaying the Vampire Conqueror – Carissa Broadbent

We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.

Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Continue reading “Can’t Wait Wednesday | Slaying the Vampire Conqueror – Carissa Broadbent”
