We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lives and hope you think so too!
When I shared my last life update I was on vacation. I traveled to Chicago and New York and had a wonderful time! One of the highlights was seeing Hamilton on Broadway, my parents got me a ticket for my birthday. I also saw a Chicago Bulls game that first weekend, went to a ton of bookstores, ate amazing food, had great cocktails and just a whole lot of fun. Oh and I ate a couple of pistachio chocolate croissants from Maman, also a big highlight haha. I loved visiting friends and had an amazing time. When I flew home, it was also my birthday haha, a weird feeling but I guess I had a week of pre birthday celebrations ;). The next day I jumped straight into work, had to finish the report cards for the kids and had the first half of parent-teacher meetings. This weekend I tried to relax for a bit.
I have gotten a very exciting eARC; Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang! It was definitely a surprise and I have very high hopes for this story.
I’ve finished The Burning God and The Court of Undying Seasons. And after finishing the first three episodes of Daisy Jones and the Six, I had to listen to the audiobook again haha. I had listened to it the week or so before, but I just had to go again. And I also read the first two volumes of Haikyu! I’m currently reading Yellowface and The Shadow Rising. After those I will go back to The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi I think, I also want to read the next volumes of Haikyu!
We got a cover reveal for the first book in the Shades of Magic spin off series Threads of Power. I’m super excited about this book and I’m basically counting down the days haha.
Of course there could only be one answer haha, I’m watching Daisy Jones and the Six! So far I love it and I can’t wait for the next couple of episodes. Although we are getting close to the end and I don’t want it to end haha.
Since watching the first couple of episodes from Daisy Jones and the Six I have been listening to the ‘Aurora’ album over and over and over. I keep finding new songs I adore on the album. Currently my favorite songs are Let Me Down Easy and Kill You to Try.
And that was my Royal Update for the week! What have you been reading and watching lately? Have you watched Daisy Jones and the Six? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
That sounds like a great birthday trip!
