Review Blast| Back to Shore – Taylor Danae Colbert

When Taylor Danae Colbert announced she is publishing a new book I’m always excited. I’ve enjoyed all of her books so far (It Goes Without Saying, Off the Record, Rowan Revived, Fighting Words, The Way Back and Bumps Along the Way) and she keeps amazing me. Back to Shore released this week and is the first book in the Meade Lake series. I can tell you this author did it again! I loved every minute of this book!! Keep on reading to find out more.

A big thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with an ARC to read and review!

When I was sixteen, I was madly in love with Ryder Casey.

He was kind, he was loving, he was everything.

Then he killed my twin brother, the night before our seventeenth birthday.

Accident or not, he crushed me in more ways than one. So I turned him away and never looked back. I haven’t forgotten. And I certainly haven’t forgiven.

Now, I’m sort of a hot mess. I’m in between jobs, essentially homeless, and newly divorced.

But as I try to put the pieces of my life back together, I know that Ryder’s the one that’s missing. I have to find him, and I have to forgive him.

And when I do, I learn that he’s not exactly living the easiest life. He needs someone. He needs me.

Despite everything, I know I should be there for him. But doing that means I’ll have to put our past behind us.

And I’ll have to try my hardest not to fall back in love with the man who broke my heart beyond repair.

Review

“The worst, most bitter kind of hate is the hate that started as love.”

Back to Shore was everything I was expecting and more!! I loved these characters and was so invested in the story. So much so it had me crying in the train while I was reading. Taylor hit me in all the feels with this book and then some. I won’t be saying too much in this review, because Back to Shore is one you need to experience for yourself. Some details will spoil the whole essence of the story and I wouldn’t want to do that to anyone.

Our main character Mila’s marriage just ended and she’s trying to figure out what to do with her life now. Realizing she can’t move on until she deals with some events from the past, she goes back to Meade Lake. Mila faces her past head on and this isn’t always easy. Mila is such a strong person. She went through so much and is still standing.

“When you’re with the right one, honey, it doesn’t feel impressive. It just feels like it’s exactly how it’s supposed to be.”

Ryder has definitely climbed the bookboyfriend list! There’s just something about him that just makes you smile. You want to hug him when things happen and how he treats everyone around him just makes me happy. Ryder sacrificed a lot and has such a generous heart. I loved reading about him.

What I loved about Back to Shore is that we slowly get all of the puzzle pieces. Chapters that jump to the past gives us bits and pieces and made me understand these characters even more. I think these flashbacks were the perfect option to have us readers learn what went on. Taylor’s writing had me hooked from the start and the book was over before I knew it!

I want to say so much about this book, because that’s just how much I loved it. Back to Shore is about first love, second chances, family, hope and true love. Back to Shore made me smile, but also made me cry. There were some twists and turns I didn’t expect, but they definitely fit this story perfectly. Besides Mila and Ryder, there is a cast of amazing secondary characters. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book in this series.

About the Author

Taylor has been writing since the tender age of seven, when her mother bought her her first typewriter. Once she finished her first work, a tall tale about a girl with hair that grew too fast, her father told her she should be published. And so, her lifelong dream of becoming a published writer was born.

Taylor never thought of herself as a romance writer, but it turns out, she loves love.

When she’s not chasing her kids, watching Impractical Jokers with her husband, running, or playing around with her two pups, she’s probably under her favorite blanket, either writing a book, or reading one.

Taylor lives in Maryland, where she was born and raised.

Back to Shore really hit me in all the feels! I can’t wait for the next book in Meade Lake releasing at the end of next month. If you need a story with second chances, romance and amazing characters definitely pick this book up. Or any of Taylor’s books really!
