Bookish Beginnings on Friday| The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

It’s time for another Book Beginnings on Friday! This meme was created by Rose City Reader. The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that. I haven’t done this in ages. I just got my ARC of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue yesterday, so I couldn’t resist writing this post!

Bookish Beginnings on Friday| The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever-and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore, and he remembers her name.
In the vein of The Time Traveler's Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab's #1 New York Times Bestselling Author genre-defying tour de force.

Goodreads

” A girl is running for her life. The summer air burns at her back, but there are no torches, no angry mobs, only the distant lanterns of the wedding party, the reddish glow of the sun as it breaks against the horizon, cracks and spills across the hills, and the girl runs, skirts tangling in the grass as she surges toward the woods, trying to beat the dying light.”

I have to start by saying, wow, that second sentence was long! Even though this is just the first sentence I wanted to continue reading right away. V.E. Schwab has such a magical way with words. I think I’m in store for a magical adventure with some twists and turns I won’t see coming. I can’t imagine having no one be able to remember you. I do love that the man that remembers her name was in a hidden bookstore. That scores points in my book!

I know I’ll be reading this as soon as possible! What about you? Will you be reading this one? What do you expect from this story? Let me know in the comments!
