We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is favorite books of 2020. We have a whole week of posts (maybe more) of our favorites of 2020, so I decided to next week’s Top Ten Tuesday instead. So I’ll be looking at my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2021. It’s going to be another amazing year for books and so hard to choose just 10!
Happily Ever Afters – Elise Bryant
Can I start by saying how much I love this cover? It’s stunning! Our main character has never seen herself projected in the pages in romance stories and does this through her own writing. I love when main characters love to read or write their own stories. I have an ARC and can’t wait to read it!
The Ex Talk – Rachel Lynn Solomon
After reading Today Tonight Tomorrow I want everything written by Rachel Lynn Solomon. I love the enemies to lovers tropes and romantic comedies are my favorite. The Ex Talk sounds like it’s going to be everything I need in a romance!
Hot British Boyfriend – Kristy Boyce
Hot British Boyfriend sounds like a contemporary with all the elements I love. I have a feeling Ellie’s quest to finding a hot British boyfriend may not be everything she needs. I can’t wait to read about Ellie’s journey. Again, I got lucky and received an e-arc and will be reading this soon!
The Project – Courtney Summers
So far I’ve had a lot of contemporaries and have a few more in my list, but thrillers are also something I want to read more of. I still need to read my copy of Sadie by this author, but The Project sounds really good! I have a feeling this book is going to leave me on the edge of my seat while reading.
Perfect on Paper – Sophie Gonzales
All I needed to read was that Perfect on Paper is described as Leah on the Offbeat meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Our main character gives anonymous love advice and her identity is being threatened when someone sees her grabbing the letters. I know I’m going to love Perfect on Paper.
The Cost of Knowing – Brittney Morris
Slay was one of my favorite books this year and I know Brittney Morris is going to be an auto-buy author for me. A Black teen is able to see the future and sees his brother’s death. That has to be awful and I know I’d want to try and stop this from happening. I can’t wait to read this book.
Kate in Waiting – Becky Albertalli
Becky Albertalli is an author who writes book I really enjoy. Kate in Waiting has an amazing cover and it seems like friendship is going to be just as important as romance in this book. Another book I’m going to have to add to my collection.
Shipped – Meredith Tate
Okay, this is another book that has everything I love. Shipped has rivals, fandoms and online chatting. I have a feeling this is going to be a book that has me laugh out loud and hopefully enjoy their fandom as much as they do.
Last Chance Books – Kelsey Rodkey
There are a lot of enemies to lovers books coming out in 2021. Last Chance Books seems to be another book I’m going to love. Our main character has every intention of taking over the family’s bookstore until a chain bookstore makes an appearance. I can already tell you I hope the smaller bookstore gets saved. I’ll be waiting until May to find out though.
One Last Stop – Casey McQuiston
Red, White and Royal Blue quickly topped the list of favorite books last year and I even did a re-read this year. So I can tell you I’ve been anxiously awaiting this author’s next release. One Last Stop sounds like another book I’ll fall in love with. Unfortunately, I have to wait until June to get my hands on this one.

Nice list! A romantic comedy I really enjoyed this year was Jill the Reckless by P.G. Wodehouse. I’d read his Jeeves and Wooster books before, and a few others, but this was one of the few I’d read with a really sweet love story and I also loved the backstage Broadway setting. Recommended!

Great list! I’m intrigued by Becky Albertalli’s new novel.
Happily Ever Afters has an awesome cover for sure.
My post.
Oooh! Thanks for putting The Project – Courtney Summers on my radar!
I hope you get to read all of these soon and love them! Happy New Year!
How do all of these look so good? The Ex Talk is the only one that’s really been on my radar, but I’m so glad that you pointed out Happily Ever Afters. It sounds brilliant.
I also want to read The Cost of Knowing and The Project…and of course, One Last Stop.
