A little while ago I used a try a chapter tag to see if I was still interested in the older eArcs I haven’t read yet. While I was excited for them when I requested them, my reading tastes have changed a bit and some of these books just aren’t for me anymore. I have not nearly enough time to spend it on books I don’t enjoy or I’m not excited about so I have to make some decisions. It’s been a while since I’ve last done one of these, so I think it’s the perfect time to do another one. Let’s see what I think after the first chapters!

If I Never Met You – Mhairi McFarlane

I loved the premise of this, fake dating between coworkers at a law firm. Unfortunately the first chapter was filled with ‘pick me’ girl energy and a lot of judgement back and forth. There might be great character development coming down the line but I don’t think I can handle this to be honest. This is probably not the book for me.

Girl, Serpent, Thorn – Melissa Bashardoust

I had forgotten what this one was about when I picked it up. The prologue was intriguing right away! And I really enjoyed the first chapter. We got a look at the world, saw a bit of ‘magic’ and got to know our main character. This seems like a book I could definitely enjoy and I will for sure keep on reading.

More Than Just a Pretty Face – Syed M. Masood

Not my usual story but I did really like the first chapter. It’s not often a YA book has a male main character (unless he’s gay) so that was already interesting. I enjoyed reading from Danyal’s POV. From what I read in the synopsis, I do think I could enjoy this story so I will keep on reading for at least a couple more chapters.
