We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books or Covers that Feel/Look Like Summer. Candyce did this topic last week as well so I’m doing a part 2 this week. I’m not really a contemporary or romance reader and usually those are the books that have summer covers so it’ll interesting to see if I have any on my shelves. Let’s take a look!
1. Save the Date – Morgan Matson
This was the first book that came to mind! The dress of the girl, the outside setting, the flowers, it all reminds me of summer. Since this is a contemporary read, I’m assuming the story also has that summer feel we see on the cover. I’ve been wanting to read this book since I’ve gotten it and I’m a bit mad I still haven’t read it haha.
2. Ship It – Britta Lundin
I think this one mostly gives me summer vibes because of the pink lettering. And maybe because I know it’s about a con and comic con gives me a summer feeling as well. This one is definitely more of a personal summer feeling I guess haha. I’ve had this one for a while now but haven’t picked it up due to a lot of negative reviews to be honest.
3. The Unexpected Everything – Morgan Matson
Another Morgan Matson book! I feel like almost all of her books would work for this prompt haha. Once again the outside setting helps, but also the dogs and I guess it just looks really sunny? Probably because of the tank top and sunglasses haha. This one is also a contemporary read and I’m pretty sure it’s set during summer!
4. The Mysterious Benedict Society – Trenton Lee Stewart
This one I totally picked because of the yellow cover haha. The rest of the cover doesn’t look that summery to me but the color definitely does remind me of summer. Since this is a MG adventure story, I do feel like the story could also give off a summer feel.
5. Lud-in-the-Mist – Hope Mirrlees
Look at that cover! The apple, the rainbow, the smaller apples, the green background. It all looks like summer to me. This is another one I have been wanting to read for a long time. It’s an adult fantasy read and I hope to make time for it this summer.
6. The Exact Opposite of Okay – Laura Steven
I love all the colors on this cover, that screams summer to me right away! Some of the illustrated details are also giving off a summer feel. I read (and adored) this one and while it doesn’t completely take place during the summer, I do feel like it fits the summer vibe for sure.
7. P.S. I Like You – Kasie West
Another outside setting (and also another YA contemporary haha). This one looks less sunny, but the clothes and the colors do still give off a summer feeling. So yes, for me this one does work. I have read this one, although it has been years. If I’m being honest, I don’t remember that much about it anymore so I’m not sure of the story matches the cover in terms of a summer feeling.
8. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before – Jenny Han
This one might be a bit of a stretch but with the white and pastel colors and then the little pop of pink I would say this one works as well! Also the cute and fluffy contemporary story with fake dating just screams summer, even though it isn’t really set during the summer.
9. Dangerous Girls – Abigail Haas
That sand represents a beach and it doesn’t get much more summer than that right? Combine it with that flower and it works really well. The story is actually set during spring break so not summer just yet. It’s a murder mystery and while those don’t necessarily give off a summer feel, I do like reading them during the summer!
10. Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
This last one might be a bit of a stretch as well but for me the colors do work for summer! Also, the book starts off at the end of the summer with the main character starting uni. I would say that works perfectly for this prompt. Also, we have a lot of early summer and full on summer books, so we needed an end of the summer book to end this list ;).

That was my list for today! Ten book cover that feel like summer. What do you think of my picks? Do those covers give off a summer feel? Which books would you have picked? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
I love the cover for The Unexpected Everything.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Dangerous Girls is such a good one that I forgot about. The cover, the idea of the book in general – very “summery” vibes.

I loved Dangerous Girls, one of my favourite mysteries ever! I also really enjoyed The Exact Opposite of Okay, it was a very fun read.

Morgan Matson and Kasie West always have the best summer covers. I love that you included them both today.
A good looking list. I struggled for summer covers/books for my list, even though I try and read seasonally the summer theme seems to be a difficult one to do (although not as difficult as spring)!!
Have a great week!

Same. I had to do a “dark” summer theme since I’m not much of a romance or contemporary reader either. I do enjoy looking at all the summery covers, though. They’re colorful and fun.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
