We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is a bit of a freebie one because TTT turns 10! Can you believe this bookish meme has been around for 10 years? I decided to go with a part 2 of Candyce’s TTT from last week. So we’re going to look at my 2020 Summer TBR. Let’s dive in!
1.My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows
I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet! My Lady Jane & My Plain Jane are some of my favorite books ever and I was so excited for this last installment in the Janies series. Let’s blame it on my exams and assignments ;). I plan on reading this right after my exams and I have very high hopes. At the moment I haven’t read any reviews yet because I want to be surprised.
2. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
I did already start THUG but want to read the whole book with my full attention after my exams. It’s a bit embarrassing that this has been unread on my shelves for this long but I do think this is the perfect moment to remedy that. And of course I need to watch the movie right after that.
3. The Diviners – Libba Bray
This book has been on my nightstand to pick up for months now. And I truly want to read it soon. I think I will love this book and since the whole series is out now I can easily binge the whole thing. Everyone seems to love this series so let’s hope I do too.
4. The Merciful Crow – Margaret Owen
I planned on reading The Merciful Crow for my O.W.L.’s but it didn’t happen. A couple of my friends really enjoyed this book though so I plan on reading it this summer. I’m pretty sure I will enjoy it too and it looks like it will be a pretty fast read.
5. This Is How You Lose the Time War – Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone
Talking about a fast read, this is a pretty short book with amazing reviews. I’m enjoying shorter stories more and more recently and I hope this will be another favorite. There are already a couple of other ones on my TBR and I have some from Tor.com’s free downloads with their newsletter.
6. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – Holly Jackson
I was so excited when I got this book and have been wanting to read it ever since. Candyce loved this and flew through it which has me even more excited. The second book released at the end of April so it would be great to continue the series as soon as I finally read this one.
7. The City of Brass – S.A. Chakraborty
Pretty much the same story as above haha. Last year I got this one and the sequel. I brought them with me on vacation but didn’t end up reading them unfortunately. Candyce did read them and she absolutely loved them. So you know I have to get on this one soon haha. I love talking about books with my bookish friends and I’m already looking forward to this one.
8. Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff
How come I haven’t read this one yet you ask? Great question haha. I adored Nevernight and immediately got this book and preordered a Darkdawn box. This series has been hyped but in my opinion it has been worth it. Now I just have to pick up GG (and DD as well). Please remind me this summer ;).
9. The Black Witch – Laurie Forest
Another one Candyce loved! I borrowed this one from her right before the lockdown but I still haven’t read it. Probably because it is BIG haha. I do have high hopes though. A lot of my bookish friends love it and it sounds like something I would really enjoy.
10. The Well of Ascension – Brandon Sanderson
Candyce and I started reading the Brandon Sanderson books this year and were actually part of a yearlong readathon. However something happened around BLM and the readathon is no longer active I believe. I really enjoyed the books I read so far so I plan on continuing with the books myself <3.
These are 10 of the books I really plan on reading this summer! Have you read any of them yet? Would you recommend them? And which one should I read first? Tell me about it in the comments!
