Two weeks ago I wrote a post about a few series that I’ve started, but haven’t finished yet. You can find that post here. That’s not the whole list, but it’s a start. Today I decided to talk about completed series that I have on my shelf, but still need to start. Yes, I’m the reader that buys a whole series before reading the first book, haha. Let’s take a look at a few of the series I really need to read soon!
Spellslinger – Sebastien de Castell
Spellslinger is a six book series and I have really pretty editions with sprayed edges! So I really wanted to complete my collection before those editions became unavailable. I think this will be a series I love though. A few readers I know really love this series and also, it has a squirrel cat. I need that in my life!
Lois Lane – Gwenda Bond
I kept seeing the first book in this series on Instagram and it really caught my attention. I haven’t read many retellings with Superman or Lois Lane. The covers looked really pretty and the story sounded interesting. Isabelle also bought the first book, so we could read them together. We just haven’t gotten there yet, haha.
The Sin Eater’s Daughter – Melinda Salisbury
A few friends recommended this trilogy. I believe I actually ended up buying it, so I could buddy read the third book with someone. That didn’t happen! I have a lot of good intentions when it comes to reading, but it doesn’t always play out. These covers look really interesting and the story still sounds good!
The Conqueror’s Saga – Kiersten White
These were definitely cover buys for me! I mean, they are stunning, don’t you think?!? I think I’ve been hesitant to start this trilogy, because I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews! I think this is really a big case of you love it or hate it, because there doesn’t seem to be anything in the middle! I will still give them a go.
Unearthly – Cynthia Hand
I remember asking for recommendations a few years back and a friend recommended the Unearthly trilogy. I love the colors of these books. Yet again, I really need to pick these up. I’ve read her writing in The Lady Janies trilogy, so I need to give her solo work a try.
The Madman’s Daughter – Megan Shepherd
This is a trilogy I bought when Megan Shepherd came to Yalfest NL here a few years ago. Unfortunately, they didn’t arrive in time to be signed, but they do have pretty deckled edges. Writing this post, I just now figured out that they’re horror. I’ve recently started reading more in this genre, so I’ll put them on my Halloween TBR.
Passenger – Alexandra Bracken
Okay, this was another cover buy. The hardcovers are stunning! Again, this is a duology that has a lot of mixed reviews. The synopsis still sounds really interesting to me. Passenger and Wayfarer are bigger books, so I’ll have to make time for them soon.
Penryn & the End of Days – Susan Ee
A couple of friends of mine LOVE this trilogy and keep saying I need to read it. For some reason the first book keeps making my TBR, but ends up not getting read for some reason. I will change that soon (I hope)! I love the covers!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians – Rick Riordan
I received this box set for Christmas over three years ago (oops…)! They sound really good and with there being so many other books in this world, I really want to get around to reading them. Also, the author is now working with Disney+ on a series for these books, so there couldn’t be a better time to start. I recently talked about this books when I posted my middle grade backlog. So many good books… so little time!
So these are the nine completed series I have on my shelf, but haven’t read yet. It’s not as bad as I thought. I did notice a lot of series that I own and have only read the first book. I’ll definitely be doing another post about those series. If you’ve read any of these series already, let me know what I should start with first! Are you the type of reader that buys a whole series before reading the first book?
I have a lot of series like this too!! I made it a point to start reading some this month. I really want you to read Spellsinger!! 🙂
I buy (or borrow from the library) full series too! I hate waiting or only having part of a set! Haha
