From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a flirty new standalone about falling for your older brother’s best friend.

There’s pretty much only one rule when you’re a guy.

Don’t be a douche.

Turns out, the fastest way to break that rule is to fall for your best friend’s sister.

Ava’s brilliant, sharp-tongued, gorgeous, and five years younger than me.

She’s the sexual equivalent of running with scissors. In a word, she’s dangerous. And completely off-limits.

Falling for her could ruin everything.

Yet I can’t seem to stop, even when her company is threatened by a lawsuit, and my promotion hinges on representing the opposing client—and winning.

I can’t see a way out of this mess that doesn’t end in a broken friendship, a broken heart, or a ruined career.

I may have broken the bro code when I fell for Ava. But do I have the balls to handle what comes next?

Review

Cover This is a fun cover to look at, haha. It definitely catches my eye. I am also a big fan of the fact that we don’t see this person’s face. It gives me the chance to imagine the character myself.

Plot Imagine growing up having a crush on your older brother’s best friend and having him look at you the same way ten years later. That sounds amazing doesn’t it? The only problem is your borther and his best friend believe in the bro code and your crush doesn’t want to take the chance. Ava and Barrett clearly have chemistry, but are they willing to risk it? I loved this story. Once again, Kendall Ryan gave us the perfect combination of humor, romance and really sweet moments. If Ava and Barrett take a chance at a relationship, there is a lot at stake. Not only their relationship with Ava’s brother, but also the careers they are both working really hard for. Once again, it was really nice to see a woman taking over a company. A woman in charge is a breath of fresh air. I have only read a few books like this before. The build up between Ava and Garrett was so much fun to read and when they finally let their emotions take over, I had a smile on my face. Barrett is definitely on the bookboyfriend list now.

Character Ava is a family player and sacrificed so much of her own life to take over the family’s factory. Her father had heart attack and has to stop working. Nick, her brother, doesn’t want to take the job. The feelings for Barrett come back and it’s not what she’s expecting. How can she fall in love with her brother’s best friend? And them living in different worlds when it comes to how the see their lives makes it hard for Ava. I love Ava though. She was funny and also wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted. I thought it was very brave of her to want to take over the family business. Definitely a character that deserbes a happily ever after.

Barrett sees Ava’s family as his own. His mom was a teenager when she had him and when kids came after him, he never felt like he belonged. Ava’s family was always there for him at sports game and supported him no matter what. This is what makes Barrett feel so guilty about being attracted to Ava. How can he risk his friendship and the safety he feels with this family? On the other side he has been working so hard to make partner at his law firm. Settiling down doesn’t fit in the schedule. Barrett is so sweet and thinks more about others than he does himself. Especially if someone is important to him. He was never much of a player and with his job, he simply doesn’t have the time to sleep around. Barrett is confident, but not arrogant and has a great sense of humor.
