Yesterday we showed all the books we read last month in our April Wrap Up. Today we have all the books we bought this month! Will this be another month filled with books, books, books? Or did we actually contain our book buying for once? Read on and find out in our April Bookhaul.
Isabelle
This month was pretty decent book buying wise! I ended up buying 10 books/manga/comics and I’ve read 6 of those already. I’m pretty happy with that number. I have a couple of review copies but I try to keep them to a minimum as I can’t stay on top of my reviews just yet. Definitely something I’m working on though! Let’s take a look at those books.
Gangsta 3 – Kohske
After really enjoying and flying through Gangsta 1 & 2 I decided to just go ahead and get Gangsta 3. This was my last day in a Barnes & Noble in the USA and I figured a manga wouldn’t take up that much space. Solid reasoning in my opinion so I got this one (and read it right away haha).
Fables vol 1 – Bill Willingham
As I mentioned yesterday, I saw the cover on this one and was immediately intrigued. After reading the synopsis, which reminded me of Once Upon a Time, I knew this was another must have. And as with Gangsta 3, this would hardly take up any space so what’s stopping me? I’m really happy I got this one and can’t wait until I can buy the next volume(s).
To Kill a Kingdom – Alexandra Christo
When browsing the Barnes & Noble I also saw this one and after hearing so many good things about it I couldn’t leave it there. I figured that it would fit in my bag since I’m an excellent packer. It did all fit… my bag was 5 kilos overweight though haha. But I was very lucky, once again, and they didn’t charge me! I hope to read this one soon, I have pretty high expectations.
Saga vol 3 – Brian K. Vaughan
When looking at some online prices for certain books I saw that a couple of manga and comics from my wishlist were currently quite cheap. So obviously I decided to get a couple 😉 I read this one almost immediately after it arrived and really enjoyed it. There are quite some storylines so I don’t want to want too long before getting the next volumes. Such a great space opera <3
Ms Marvel vol 2 – G. Willow Wilson
I really enjoyed reading about Kamala in the first volume of Ms Marvel so this was another one from my wishlist. The Marvel comics I own are all pretty thin so I read and finished it in absolutely no time at all haha. Now I have to wait until I can allow myself to buy the next volume. Lately I have really been enjoying comics but considering how quickly I read them I do think they can be pretty pricey. Especially compared to ‘regular’ novels. I totally understand why that is but still.
My Hero Academia 2 – Kohei Horikoshi
After really enjoying My Hero Academia 1 I wanted to get #2 right away. This story is highly enjoyable! It’s not really unique or anything special but if you love superhero stories this is definitely one you want to read. I think the characters are the strongest thing in this manga and I want to know what more is in store for them!
The Promised Neverland 2 – Kaiu Shirai
Look at that cute cover! The Promised Neverland started out pretty cute with a little bit of mystery but got pretty dark, pretty fast. I really enjoyed it but unfortunately haven’t picked this second one up just yet. This will for sure be the next manga I’ll be reading and I hope that will be really soon. These characters are really cute and I hope they succeed in what they try to accomplish.
Spell on Wheels – Kate Leth
I heard so many good things about this one and this was number one on my wishlist! I was so happy when I got it but I have to admit I haven’t read it yet. It is on my little pile of books to read ASAP so I do think I will get to it very soon. This is my only unread comic so the moment I want to read a comic, I will be reading this one!
The Exact Opposite of Okay – Laura Steven
You might have already read our review of this book! I listened to the audiobook but when we (very last minute) decided to go to YalfestNL to meet Laura I knew I had to get a physical copy. So obviously I quickly ordered this online and now own a personalized signed edition <3 And do you see those cute matching candles I got there? Aren’t they perfect? So happy with those!!
Summoner – Taran Matharu
This book had been on my wishlist for a long, long time but I never got around to actually getting it. Our trip to YalfestNL proved to be the perfect opportunity as Taran would be there as well. I ordered this together with The Exact Opposite of Okay and I now also have a personalized signed copy of Summoner as well. And I got another cute and matching candle. Aren’t those things the best?!
Candyce
I was a good girl this month, haha. This month I added six books to my collection. Once again I was able to add quite a few books to review and it’s so much fun to review for authors. At times it’s really tempting though, because so many amazing books are being released. I want to help spread the word about those, but I also have enough books of my own to read. I’m still finding a balance in this.
The Beauty That Remains – Ashley Woodfolk
This was a book on my radar and I loved the cover. A few people I know have said this book is beautiful and really emotional. Those are the kind of books I love. If it’s an emotional read I won’t be taking it on the train though. It’s not fun crying over a book on public transportation, haha.
The Wicked Deep – Shea Ernshaw
The Wicked Deep wasn’t a book that I originally planned on buying, but I am happy I did. I already read this book and am hoping to post my review this month. The setting of this book is in a small town and an island. The fact that it was such a small town with its own history and legends made this so much more interesting. I think I may reread this around Halloween.
To be honest, this is a major cover buy for me, haha. I saw this in a Facebook group where you can read and review. At that moment, I didn’t have time to review, so I let it go. After awhile I kept seeing it pop up on Instagram and decided to grab it. Recently I’ve heard some mixed reviews. If it isn’t good, Lullaby still has an amazing cover that is a beautiful addition to my bookcases.
This was another book I saw in that Facebook group to read and review. The cover is gorgeous. Since then I have seen a few revies and heard how amazing this book is. Apparently, as a fan of The Lunar Chronicles I wil like this one as well. There are so many books I want to read at the moment, haha. It’s so hard to choose. Hopefully I will get to it soon. Of course, I will definitely review when I read it.
Snotgirl Volume 1 – Lee O’Malley
After Isabelle liking this comic, I was pretty curious, but didn’t get around to buying it. Since then I have read a few reviews and it made me want this comic more. Lately, I have been seeing comics and graphic novels and it makes me want to buy them all. It’s definitely something I want to read more of this year.
Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli
This book has been a highly anticipated release for me since it was announced. Leah on the Offbeat is seen as the sequel to Simon vs. the Homosapien Agenda. That was a book I really loved when I read it and Leah was an amazing character. Leah has her own book now. I have some books that need to be read first, but this will definitely be on my May TBR!
As you can see, we both had another amazing book month. We added some fun things to our TBRs. What books did you add to your collection in April? Any books that we need to know about? Definitely let us know!
Amazing haul, loves! So many good books! <3

We are both really happy with our hauls?
