Bookish Item| Books I Need to Read in 2025 Part 2

Two weeks ago I posted the first part of the (25) books I need to read in 2025. Today it’s time to tell you about the other twelve books I’m adding to this list. Let’s take a look at the books I’m determined to get off my physical TBR this year.

Lady of Darkness – Melissa K. Roehrich

Lady of Darkness is the beginning of a fantasy romance series that I’ve seen compared to Throne of Glass, but adult? This is a five book series, so maybe I’ll have something to take the place of the series I’ve been missing since I read Kingdom of Ash.

Renegades – Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series, but I still haven’t read Marissa Meyer’s other fantasy series. Even though I was able to meet her and have my copy signed. I know this is about a group of humans with extraordinary abilities.

The Beautiful – Renee Ahdieh

I’ve had The Beautiful on multiple TBRs, but still haven’t gotten around to it. This is even a book I had an eARC of. Seeing how this was released in October 2019, I’d say it’s time.

Five Dark Fates – Kendare Blake

Three Dark Crowns is a series I’ve really enjoyed, and I can’t tell you why I haven’t read the final book yet. Five Dark Fates is another book that released near the end of 2019 and has been sitting on my shelves. It’s been so long since I read Two Dark Reigns, I’m starting to winder if I need to reread this series before starting the final book.

Final Girls – Riley Sager

Riley Sager is an author I’ve heard amazing things about and that’s why I bought Final Girls. Since then I’ve read two other books by him, but I honestly didn’t love them. So I guess I’m seeing if I enjoy Final Girls. If not, Riley Sager may just not be an author for me.

Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow – Jessica Townsend

The Nevermoor series is one of my favorite middle grade books, but I still haven’t read the third book. That has a reason though! The release of the fourth book kept getting postponed. It’s finally releasing this year, so I can catch up with the series now.

Dance of Thieves – Mary E. Pearson

The Remnant Chronicles was a trilogy I enjoyed, so I added Dance of Thieves to my shelves when it released in 2018. I’ve heard great things about the start of this duology since then, but I just haven’t sat down to read it yet.

Chain of Gold – Cassandra Clare

So Chain of Gold was actually on my 24 books in 2024 list, but it was one I didn’t get around to. I’m still surprised I haven’t started this trilogy yet, because I love the Shadowhunter books. The Infernal Devices is my favorite trilogy in this world and Chain of Gold is the start of that spinoff series.

The Shadow Wand – Laurie Forest

The Black Witch Chronicles is a series that doesn’t get enough hype. The first two books were amazing and I really want to continue the series. The fifth and final book just released, so I can binge the rest of the series now.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow – Gabrielle Zevin

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow took the reading world by storm a couple of years ago, and this literary fiction sounds right up my alley. This book spans thirty years after our main characters meet when they’re children. From what I understand this isn’t a typical love story.

The Way I Hate Him – Meghan Quinn

Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite authors and she’s written so many books! One of my goals this year is to read her complete backlist. The Way I Hate Him is one I have physically on my shelves, so I’ll be tackling this one first. I’ve heard The Way I Hate Him has an emotional punch, so this should be interesting.

Off to the Races – Elsie Silver

After I read the final book in the Chestnut Springs series, I’ll only have the Gold Rush Ranch series to catch up on before I have read all of Elsie Silver’s backlist. So far I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her and I’m excited to start Off to the Races.

So these are the final twelve books on my books I need to read in 2025 list. Have you read any of these? Which one should I start with? Or what are some books you want to read this year? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
