Bookish Item| Books I Need to Read in 2025 Part 1

I’ve been debating on doing a 25 books for 2025 for a couple of months now. This is something I did for 2024, and I only read 8 of the books, haha. That being said, they’re still fun to do. Isabelle posted her 25 books for 2025, and that had me finally make the decision to do a list.

So today I’ll be talking about the first half of my books I need to read in 2025. Let’s take a look!

Skyward – Brandon Sanderson

I’ve enjoyed some of the Cosmere books by Brandon Sanderson, and Skyward has been on my shelves since it released in 2018. Needless to say, it’s time for me to finally pick up this young adult science fiction. A lot of people seem to love this, so I’m excited to read it myself.

Binding 13 – Chloe Walsh

Binding 13 is a series that seems to have went viral in the bookish community. This self-published series ended up getting picked up by a traditional publisher. At the moment five books have been published. I know every couple gets their own duology. These books are all pretty big (over 500+ pages) and I’ve heard they’re very emotional.

The Will of the Many – James Islington

So I actually read the first 50 pages of this last year and enjoyed what I read. The ending of this book seems to be shocking a lot of readers, and I saw a lot of people have this in their favorites of 2024. I believe we’re supposed to get the sequel later this year, so if I read this soon, I’ll be able to pick up the sequel right away. If I can believe other readers, I’m going to want it ASAP!

House of Flame and Shadow – Sarah J. Maas

House of Flame and Shadow was one of my most anticipated releases of 2024, but for some reason I haven’t read it yet. I think it’s because of all of the hype surrounding its release. When a book is really hyped, it tends to scare me. I rather read it when it’s not as hyped up. It seems I enjoy books more that way.

Wolfsong – T.J. Klune

It seems I’m adding nothing but bigger books to this list, haha. Wolfsong is another book I’ve been curious about. This book is the start of the Green Creek series that seems to be beloved by many. I know it’s an emotional roller coaster, but it always impresses me when an author knows how to hit me in all the feels.

God of Malice – Rina Kent

Rina Kent is a very popular author and a few of my friends love her work. The Legacy of Gods series is being published by Bloom and I have the first three with pretty sprayed edges. She has a lot of books and I believe there’s a certain order to her books, so I’ll have to look that up first.

Addicted for Now – Krista & Becca Ritchie

Last year I read the first two books in the Addicted series and loved them a lot more than I was expecting. I have Addicted for Now and Kiss the Sky on my shelves now. I believe this is the last book about Lily and Loren. I hope they get their happily ever after.

Off to the Races – Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver became a favorite author of mine as I worked through the Chestnut Springs series and the start of her Rose Hill series. The Gold Rush Ranch was Elsie’s first series and Off to the Races is the first book. I’m definitely going to complete her backlist in 2025.

When the Moon Hatched – Sarah A. Parker

When the Moon Hatched is a book I see get a lot of mixed reviews. It feels like you either love it or you don’t? A few of my friends recently read it, and loved it! So I want to catch up before the sequel releases later this year. If I love it, I know I’ll want to continue.

Cursed Fates – Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

I actually started reading Cursed Fates in May 2022, and if I remember correctly, I was almost halfway through. Zodiac Academy is quite the series to take on and I was loving it. I think I just needed a little break. Mostly because I knew I was almost caught up and I wanted to continue. The series is now complete, so it’s time for me to catch up.

The Crown of Gilded Bones – Jennifer L. Armentrout

I’m so behind with the From Blood and Ash world. I devoured the first two books and loved them. They’re all pretty big books, and I think that’s why I’ve been putting them off. The final book in this world releases later this year if I remember correctly. At the moment I’m still debating rereading the first two books.

The Way I Hate Him – Meghan Quinn

Meghan Quinn is an author I go to when I want romantic comedies or books that hit me in all the feels. I’ve read quite a few of her books, but there are still quite a few I need to read. My goal is to complete her backlist. The Way I Hate Him is one that I’ve been thinking about recently. This is one I know hits readers in all the feels.

Things We Left Behind – Lucy Score

Lucy Score is another author with quite the backlist I still want/need to read. The first two books in the Knockemout trilogy were five stars for me, and it’s time I finish the last book. I know some readers were a bit disappointed about this one. In all honesty, I’ll probably still love it. I’ve been waiting to read Lucian’s story!

So here are some of the books I want to read in 2025! Have you read any of these? Or do you have a TBR of books you want to get to this year? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
