Bookish Item| February TBR

We have about a week left of January and that means it’s time to talk about the books I’m hoping to read next month. Normally I don’t read my whole TBR because I’m definitely a mood reader. At the moment I’m typing this, I’ve read almost all of the January TBR I created. So let’s see if I can do that again in February! Let’s take a look at the books I want to read next month.

Group Reads

Lights Out – Navessa Allen

For my swoonalong read we’re taking it darker this Valentine’s Day with a stalker romance. Lights Out is a book I’ve seen everywhere and I’ve heard that the audiobook is amazing. I know this book isn’t for everyone, but I have a feeling I’ll love it.

An Academy for Liars – Alexis Henderson

Dark academia books are something I really enjoy reading, and An Academy for Liars sounds right up my alley. This book takes place at a school of magic. That’s always a setting I love to read.

A Torch Against the Night – Sabaa Tahir

In January we read An Ember in the Ashes for our series slayers book club. Next we’ll be reading A Torch Against the Night. This is a sequel, so I can’t say too much about this one!

eARCs

I actually have quite a few eARCs I’m excited about that release in February. I’m hoping to read them all, but here are the ones I’m most curious about.

Unloved – Peyton Corinne

In December I read Unsteady and I enjoyed that book. Unloved is the sequel and I’m looking forward to reading it. I want to say our main character was the best friend in the first book.

Change of Heart – Falon Ballard

Change of Heart has a main character who is devoted to work and doesn’t really have time for love. Until one day she’s transported to a small town straight out of a Hallmark movie. I love books with a touch of magical realism, so this is going to be a great time I think.

Unhallowed Halls – Lili Wilkinson

Unhallowed Halls is the second dark academia book on my TBR for the month and takes place at a boarding school. That’s one of my favorite settings, so I’m excited to pick this up.

Physical TBR/Backlist Books

Just like every other month, I’ll be picking three random books off my shelves to read.

We Contain Multitudes – Sarah Henstra

We Contain Multitudes is a book about the growing relationship between two books. What makes this book special is that it’s told through letters. I love books that have letters, emails, or mixed media, so I’m excited about this one.

Chilling Effect – Valerie Valdes

Science fiction isn’t my go to genre, but Chilling Effect was one that caught my eye. This cover is really interesting and has cats with space helmets. The synopsis says they’re psychic cats. How can I not want to read a book like that?

Boyfriend Material – Alexis Hall

Boyfriend Material is actually a book I started reading quite some time ago. I want to say I got over 100 pages in. As usual, I ended up getting distracted by other books. This book has fake dating, my favorite trope. So I’ll be surprised if I don’t end up loving this.

So that’s my February TBR! Have you read any of these? Or what do you plan on reading in February? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
