I recently finished reading Haikyu, a bittersweet feeling. Not too long ago I did a review on the whole high school arc of the series and today I wanted to do a review on the rest of the series. I wasn’t sure what to call this arc so I just went with the after high school arc haha. Let’s just jump in!
All the players on the court give everything they’ve got to the game. The Black Jackals vs. Adlers match finally comes to a conclusion! Can Hinata dig one of Ushijima’s nastiest spikes? What of his competition with Kageyama?! This monumental masterpiece of a volleyball manga comes thundering to a close!
If you’ve seen my review of the high school arc you already know I love this series so much. And you might also know that I was a bit bitter that we only got Hinata’s first year of high school. At the end of volume 42 we get the start of the years after high school, so this arc is only a bit over 3 volumes. Which isn’t a lot, although I do feel like they are a bit bigger than the earlier volumes!
This arc starts off with Hinata going to Brazil to play beach volleyball and at first I disliked this a lot. Especially coming out of the high school arc that ended to early for my liking. Knowing Hinata was on the other side of the world without all the other characters didn’t seem appealing to me at all. But I have to say, this part of the story grew on me! There was a cameo I adored and Hinata learned a lot in Brasil.
Next up we see some professional volleyball teams and wow did I love that! We only really got one match but it was an amazing one. Basically all the characters were know and love made a small appearance and I was just giggling and kicking my feet all throughout the final volume haha. I adored both teams and simply loved it all.
This manga is so amazing and I would highly recommend it to everyone. It also made watching volleyball during the Olympics so much fun, I saw moves I recognized from the manga and it was really cool to see them in ‘real life’.
