Review| All the Feels – Olivia Dade

Spoiler Alert was one of my favorite 2020 reads and I was anxiously awaiting the releases of the sequel All the Feels. It took me a bit longer to actually sit down and read this one, but I definitely regretted waiting so long. After reading it I just had to make sure to come on the blog and talk about this book. Keep on reading to find out more about All the Feels and what I thought!

Following Spoiler Alert, Olivia Dade returns with another utterly charming romantic comedy about a devil-may-care actorwho actually cares more than anyone knowsand the no-nonsense woman hired to keep him in line.

Alexander Woodroe has it all. Charm. Sex appeal. Wealth. Fame. A starring role as Cupid on TV’s biggest show, God of the Gates. But the showrunners have wrecked his character, he’s dogged by old demons, and his post-show future remains uncertain. When all that reckless emotion explodes into a bar fight, the tabloids and public agree: his star is falling.

Enter Lauren Clegg, the former ER therapist hired to keep him in line. Compared to her previous work, watching over handsome but impulsive Alex shouldn’t be especially difficult. But the more time they spend together, the harder it gets to keep her professional remove and her heart intact, especially when she discovers the reasons behind his recklessness…not to mention his Cupid fanfiction habit.

When another scandal lands Alex in major hot water and costs Lauren her job, she’ll have to choose between protecting him and offering him what he really wants—her. But he’s determined to keep his improbably short, impossibly stubborn, and extremely endearing minder in his life any way he can. And on a road trip up the California coast together, he intends to show her exactly what a falling star will do to catch the woman he loves: anything at all.

Review

We already meet our main characters of All the Feels during Spoiler Alert. Alex is the main character’s best friend. I have to say I love the fact that these books take place at the same time. It’s fun seeing everything play out, but now on Alex’s side of the story. If you’re looking for a book that makes you laugh out loud and truly hit you in the feels I definitely recommend this one!

Alex seems like a wild guy who doesn’t think, drinks too much, and doesn’t behave like any actor should if wanting to keep a successful acting career. In the end I honestly really think Alex is just a big teddy bear. When you read his story he’s genuine, sweet, caring, and so protective of the ones he loves. He may blame himself a bit too much for certain events in his life, but it all comes from a good place. Alex deserves a place on the book boyfriend list.

When Lauren finally leaves a job that’s taken just a bit too much from her and goes on vacation she never expects to take a job from her cousin to basically babysit an actor. I think in the end this worked really well for her. Lauren is an amazing character who just doesn’t put herself first very often or thinks she deserves to be put first or treated a certain way. Being with Alex and in his world it was interesting to see her opening up and taking what she deserves. Lauren is smart, witty, and just an amazing character.

Alex and Lauren’s relationship was definitely a slow burn in many ways. I loved their banter and inner dialogue as they’re getting to know each other. It was fun seeing their attraction develop and when they finally gave in it definitely got steamy. There’s a moment when Alex actually acknowledges that they’re situation is a book trope and laughs about it. That was just so much fun! Alex and Lauren care too much, but sometimes don’t protect themselves. I think they needed each other to figure that out.

Once again, we also get some fan fiction to read and it was great to see again. Even if I wish we got a little more. Add some fun text messages between different characters and this book got even better. I really hope the author continues to give us many stories in this world.

Even though I didn’t enjoy All the Feels as much as Spoiler Alert it was still an amazing book I’d highly recommend. Have you read Spoiler Alert or All the Feels? Let me know in the comments if you have. I’d love to hear from you!
