Can’t Wait Wednesday| So This Is Ever After – F.T. Lukens

We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Carry On meets Arthurian legend in this funny, subversive young adult fantasy about what happens after the chosen one wins the kingdom and has to get married to keep it…and to stay alive.

Arek hadn’t thought much about what would happen after he completed the prophecy that said he was destined to save the Kingdom of Ere from its evil ruler. So now that he’s finally managed to (somewhat clumsily) behead the evil king (turns out magical swords yanked from bogs don’t come pre-sharpened), he and his rag-tag group of quest companions are at a bit of a loss for what to do next.

As a temporary safeguard, Arek’s best friend and mage, Matt, convinces him to assume the throne until the true heir can be rescued from her tower. Except that she’s dead. Now Arek is stuck as king, a role that comes with a magical catch: choose a spouse by your eighteenth birthday, or wither away into nothing.

With his eighteenth birthday only three months away, and only Matt in on the secret, Arek embarks on a desperate bid to find a spouse to save his life—starting with his quest companions. But his attempts at wooing his friends go painfully and hilariously wrong…until he discovers that love might have been in front of him all along.

F.T. Lukens has amazing covers and I’ve been wanting to read In Deeper Waters since it released last year. So This Is Ever After is another one that caught my attention immediately. I loved how it’s described as Carry On meets Arthurian legend.

Reading this summary makes me expect a fun fantasy adventure with lots of humor and a side of romance. I have a feeling the characters are going to be really interesting and I’m hoping the romance is a lot of fun.

I was lucky and received an e-arc of So This Is Ever After. Definitely keep an eye out on the blog for a bookish beginnings post and of course my review closer to the release date at the end of March. Have you read In Deeper Waters? What did you think? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.
