Bookish Item | Isabelle’s Netgalley Backlist III

It’s been a while since I last did a Netgalley Backlist post! Candyce has been giving regular updates and I thought it would be fun to share the next part of mine as well. And hopefully this will help me get excited for some of these again. My current feedback ratio is 40% and picking up some of these older releases will definitely help. So let’s get into it!

The Dragon Republic – R.F. Kuang

I feel like I have been talking about this one a lot recently so maybe I will be picking it up soon. The first book in the series was so incredibly good, but also very big and intimidating. So I have been both looking forward and dreading reading this second book haha. Soon though!!

Fireborne – Rosaria Munda

I actually forgot about Fireborne for a bit. The reviews I’ve seen have been very positive though and when rereading the synopsis I immediately remembered why I wanted to read this one. It has dragons!! So it must be a cool read haha.

Girls of Storm and Shadow – Natasha Ngan

This is the second book in the series and I still haven’t read the first one haha. That is the main reason I haven’t picked this one up yet. I have high hopes for this series and I do want to read the books soon as I think I will love them.

Blood Heir – Amelia Wen Zhao

I want to read this one so badly! There was some controversy surrounding the book before the release and I would love to be able to form my own opinion about it. It sounds like a book I will really enjoy and a lot of my Goodreads friends already did.

A Beginning At the End – MikeĀ Chen

This book was just a little bit ahead of it’s time… It’s about a post-apocalyptic world that got destroyed by a pandemic. And it was released in January 2020 haha. I think it still sounds very interesting and I’m excited to see if there are any similarities to what happened the past 2 years.

The Unwilling – Kelly Braffet

The reviews for this one are all over the place and I have no idea what to expect. While the synopsis is a bit vague, I do think it’s interesting. I can’t say I’m super excited to pick this one up but at some point I do want to try it based on that description!

The Midnight Lie – Marie Rutkoski

This is a new series in the world of Marie’s previous series (The Winner’s Trilogy). And while I really want to read those books and own the first one, I still haven’t done so. Without reading the first series, I don’t want to read this one and maybe get some spoilers.

Incendiary – Zoraida Cordova

I love the books I read by Zoraida previously so I have been very excited for Incendiary ever since I heard about the book. Unfortunately I still haven’t picked this one up and I can’t really pinpoint why. Probably just because I have so many books to read and so little time. But I still want to!

Have you read any of these? Which one should I pick up first? Or which one are you most curious about? Let me know in the comments and maybe it’ll be my next read!
