New year, new tags! I thought it would be fitting to do an actual January tag and found one that was created last year. A lot of people feel down during the dark weeks of January, and I imagine with our current lockdown this might even be the case more so than usual. Book Break created this tag to try and cheer you up a bit, so let’s talk about books!
1. What’s a book you’ve read so far in 2021 that’s cheered you up?
A book that really cheered me up was Self-Care for Pisces. It’s part of a series of self help books based on the Zodiac signs. They have tips about self-care practices that will benefit people based on your sign. And I loved it so much! I screenshot a bunch of pages because they were spot on. It’s going to be so excited to start with some of these. Highly recommend these books.
2. Recommend a book set in winter.
The Snow Like Ashes series was so much fun and it is partly set in Winter. And I don’t mean the season ;). Or not in the way you’d expect. I really liked this series and would highly recommend it.
3. Recommend a book set in the dark.
The Phobos series takes place during a trip to Mars. So it’s all set in space and I could argue that space is very dark. In my humble opinion this definitely counts haha. I have read the first two books but I’m excited to continue the series. The books are originally written in French and I read the Dutch translation but they’re also translated to English.
4. Recommend a book set in a cold climate.
I’m going to recommend a book I’ve never talked about before. And that’s the Doomspell trilogy. I read the Dutch translation and got the windup book with all three instalments in the series. This book was released over 15 years ago and I’ve read a multiple times. I loved this book so much and actually want to reread it now I’m thinking about it!
5. Recommend a book that takes place over a whole year.
This was a pretty hard one! I think the book I picked takes place over the better part of a whole year. Fangirl is one of my favorite books ever and it takes place during Cath’s first year at university. I’m pretty sure it covers almost her entire first year so it counts for me ;).
6. Recommend a cosy spot to read.
I basically always read in my bed haha. Doesn’t matter what time of day it is, I love reading while laying or sitting on my bed!
7. Recommend a reading snack.
To be honest, I usually don’t really eat while reading. While I can do multiple things at once, eating and reading isn’t a combination of things I can do at the same time. I am always drinking tea though! The only thing I eat sometimes is a cookie or a biscuit or something.
8. What books are you most looking forward to coming out in 2021?
Both Candyce and I did a TTT post on this recently! You can find it here and here. There are so many good books coming out and there is no way I can only mention one haha. If I have to pick one that isn’t on our lists (as they only cover the first half of the year) I’m going with The Hawthore Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I loved loved loved the first book and I can’t wait for the sequel.
9. Are you feeling any better about it being January now?
Haha, I think I do! I didn’t really have the blues to start with, so that helped. But I’m in a pretty good mood and I want to read a bunch of books ;).
Have you read any great books in 2021? I would love to hear about them. And if you have any recommendations of books set during a whole year, I’d also love to look those up! Let me know in the comments!
I love this tag! Is it okay if I do this tag on my blog too?
Of course!💜
Self Care for Pisces intrigues me – being a Pisces and all. I’ll have to take a look at it ❤️
I can’t recommend it enough! It was so fun recognising a lot about myself and finding some new self-care practices that will be helpful to me!
