Show Sunday | The 100 – Final Season

I’ve posted about this before, and you might remember that The 100 is one of my absolute favorite shows ever. A year and a half ago I rewatched the first 4 seasons right before the fifth season released. I love this show so much and was pretty sad when it was announced this seventh season would be the last. This week series finale aired, let’s talk about it!
There will be spoilers for the previous seasons!

Set ninety-seven years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity’s lone survivors sends one hundred juvenile delinquents back to Earth, in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.

This seventh season consist of 16 episodes and picks up right where the sixth season ends. We got some heartbreaking moments in the season 6 and it was pretty sad to start this season without Abby. Season 6 also ended with Octavia being ‘dusted’ away after being stabbed and I had no idea where they were going with the anomaly. This season had a couple of loose ends that it needed to solve, like Sheidheda and of course how it would all end.

I didn’t really have a lot of expectations for this season to be honest. A satisfying ending is so hard to do and all I could do was hope for the best haha. I also hoped we wouldn’t have to say goodbye to too many of our favorite characters. Because spoiler alert, not every one makes it to the end 😉

The storyline this season was pretty interesting! Since the first seasons we progressed into the scifi genre a lot more and I definitely enjoyed that. While we still follow our beloved characters, the show moved into something I never expected. There were a couple of storylines going on at the same time, and I’ll admit some of it was a bit rushed. In the end I did really enjoy it and I could’ve never predicted where this season would go.

One of the episodes was a backdoor episode for the prequel series we hopefully get. I LOVED that episode so much! It had a super interesting storyline and I’m already so excited for the prequel. I really hope we will get that show and I’m sure it’s going to be great. It will probably have more of feeling of those first seasons I fell in love with.

This last season actually managed to introduce us to a new character I fell in love with. And it isn’t the character most people would pick I think haha. I absolutely loved Levitt and I’m so happy they added him to the show. Murphy once again proved what an amazing character he is, I love his arc so much. I can’t believe he went from the worst character to one of the absolute best! They wrote Murphy so well, I can’t get over it haha.

Another perfect character is Raven, she is one of the best and I was praying for a happy ending for her. She deserved it maybe most of all, after all she’d been through! Clarke gets a lot of hate, but I actually love her a lot. She has made some of the toughest decisions on the show and she is still so full of love.

While this season wasn’t perfect, and I didn’t get everything I wanted, I still really liked it. It was a good ending to this wonderful show! I especially loved the last couple of scenes (with a perfect surprise) and I cried my eyes out. Actually, I cried a lot during multiple episodes haha. I will always have very font memories of this show and will definitely rewatch it at some point <3

  1. I loved this season too. I never would have expected the show to make the turn that it did but the characters definitely stay true to who they’ve become. The only thing that bothered my about the ending was who chose not to be there. It seems like the higher beings could have sent that character back fully ok but that didn’t happen. I’ll miss the show ❤️

  2. I have SO MANY thoughts and feelings about the finale, and I don’t want to clutter up your comments too much. lol. I agree the final season was a bit rushed at some points and I feel like some of the threads they introduced should have actually been introduced a season or two ago to let it breath a bit more so the impact would be greater. Right before the finale episode I had a sense of dread because I didn’t see how they were going to wrap it all up in a satisfying manner. I think overall they did a great job, it just felt a bit like they thought they’d have a few more seasons to get to the eventual end but ended up having to wrap it up sooner (which may have been the case honestly, I didn’t really look into it.)
That ending though. Oh man, that was really emotional and a great note to leave it on.
