Review| Taking His Shot – Kendall Ryan

The Hot Jocks series has been a lot of fun to read this past year (Playing for Keeps, All the Way, Trying to Score, Crossing the Line and Wild for You have already been reviewed). This team of amazing hockey players has given us some amazing romances. Kendall Ryan has given us some amazing book boyfriends and the last book is now out in the world. Taking His Shot released June 8th and I want to talk about that book today!

A big thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC to read and review.

Review| Taking His Shot – Kendall Ryan

She says she doesn't date players.
She swears up and down that she'll never handle my stick.
We'll see about that, sweetheart.
When I win the pleasure of Harper's company at a charity auction, it secures me with exactly one date--one shot to win over the gorgeous and feisty brunette.
Game on. I play hard and I love a challenge.
But just when I think I've finally carved out my shot ... two huge secrets implode around us, threatening everything we've built.
The bestselling Hot Jocks series is back with one last stand-alone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series is perfect for you! Each book features a brand new couple to fall in love with.

Taking His Shot definitely made the Hot Jocks series end on a high note! Jordie and Harper are so much fun and this book had me laughing out loud. This was filled with humor, romance, swoon-worthy moments, sports and amazing characters.

Like previous books, we get a glimpse of the characters we’ve come to love in previous books. I have to say I loved how all of the characters’ stories wrapped up. These guys are a close team and have become family for each other. I really felt this and loved how much they were there for each other.

Jordie is the rookie of the team and still finding his spot on the team. I really loved Jordie. He may be a bit full of himself at times, but he really does mean well. He’s funny, but also very caring and protective. You can also definitely say he doesn’t give up on what he wants. His childhood wasn’t smooth sailing, but he’s trying to make the best of the present.

Harper is the coach’s daughter and has sworn off dating athletes. Growing up surrounded in hockey and constantly moving, because of her father’s job, Harper is making her life the priority! I completely understand this and I love the she decided to do what was right for her. She loves her father and is very protective of him. As a writer she’s doing some freelance work to try and get her career started to write her own book! The fact that his became an aspect later on in the story was really interesting. I loved that Kendall Ryan added the article that Harper ends up writing.

The romance between Harper and Jordie was really cute at first. There was so much flirting and Jordie was determined to get Harper to give him a chance. I loved that this felt more natural and that it didn’t feel too forced or annoying. Their dates and time together are a lot of funny and definitely get steamy. I think their connection was more than either of them expected, but it just worked.

Even though I’m sad that the Hot Jocks series is over, I’m excited to see what Kendall Ryan gives us next. What are some of your favorite sports romances? Let me know in the comments!
