Review Blast| Come Back for Me – Corinne Michaels

Corinne Michaels knows how to write books that hit you in all the feels. Ever since she started talking about her next release, I was really interesting. Come Back for Me sounded like it was going to be an amazing story. This book released on the 7th and today I want to talk about my thoughts!

A big thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC to read and review!

I do have to post a warning with this book, because there is domestic abuse that is described in this book. I could understand it’s not always easy to read!

Come Back for Me, an all-new emotional and rivetingstandalone from New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels, is LIVE!
One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace.
No names.
No promises.
Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain andgrief.
In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace withher. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania.
When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him.At least I’ll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with
memories I’ve fought to forget.
And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautifulthan I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.
Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and thistime I refuse to let her go. They say you can’t bury the past, and they’reright. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core,I have no choice but to watch her walk away again . . .

Connor never expected to come back to Sugarloaf, but after his father dies, he has to back to get things settled. He never expects to have to stick around, but things take place and he doesn’t have much choice. I can’t imagine how hard this was for Connor. After hearing about his past, I can’t imagine how difficult it is for him to be back at that house.

Ellie has been married for 8 years, but she’s anything but happy. Things turned violent quickly and she’s just not sure how to get out. She’s planning on it though, because her daughter needs a better environment than this. Ellie is a very strong person and is slowly realizing that she deserves better than this. During this story she slowly gets stronger and it’s nice seeing that side of her.

Who knew one night so many years ago would leave behind memories and chemistry neither of them could forget. This isn’t your typical love story, both of these characters have tragic events to get passed, but they’re stronger together. I loved that the story gradually added the romance. After everything that happened, it would’ve felt wrong to me if that happened so fast. Even with their past.

Later in the story there is one event that kind of caught me off guard and felt off. I would’ve chosen to add the suspense with earlier events in the books. This felt out of place to me and kind of cruel. It’s such a coincidence that it happened and I didn’t really care for that aspect. I know this is so vague, but I don’t want to spoil anything for new readers.

All in all, this was a book that hit me all in the feels. The characters are amazing, especially Ellie’s daughter. I think she was my favorite of them all. I can’t wait to read about the next Arrowood brother!
