Review Blast| Always Mine – Kennedy Fox

The Roommate Duets have been a lot of fun. I really enjoyed Hunter & Lennon (Baby Mine & Baby Yours) and Mason & Sophie (Truly Mine & Truly Yours). While reading these books, Liam and Maddie have been characters we’ve seen a lot of. They’re finally getting their own duet, Always Mine and Always Yours. Always Mine is out in the world today and I’m going to tell you what I thought!

A big thanks to Kennedy Fox and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing me with an ARC to read and review.

College
parties, beer, and one-night stands—that was my life.

Now, I hunt down criminals, ethically or not,
but if no one’s asking, then I’m not telling. Drinking and women are still
included, though I can’t seem to forget the girl who almost gave me her
virginity. She would’ve until I realized she was too young, and I wasn’t
looking to get thrown into jail.
In a twist of fate, we’re reunited, except she’s
no longer underage but still equally off-limits.

After ignoring her relentless advances, she
starts to wear me down. I only have so much willpower when she’s around,
running her smart mouth and showing off her impeccable dance moves.

Just when my restraint starts to crumble, my
poor choices finally catch up with me, putting us both in danger.

There’s no easy way to explain why I betrayed
her, but I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe—even if it means breaking
her heart.

ALWAYS MINE is a slow-burn, intense romance wrapped up in a suspenseful
beautiful love story. It’s book 1 in the Liam & Madelyn duet and must be
read first.

Review

Maddie and Liam’s story has been developing in the backgroud as we’ve been reading the Roommate Duets. It’s clear there’s chemistry there, but Liam is keeping his distance. Of course, we know he won’t always be able to resist.

I loved seeing the moments we don’t know about that happened between these two and that give us some more background information about these two. Liam isn’t a relationship man, not after everything that happened in his parents’ marriage. Maddie is the youngest of three that grew up in a really protective and religious family. She’s definitely looking for her freedom.

I really enjoyed Liam. He’s funny and cares so much more than he lets on. I love how he sees his group of friends as his family and will do anything to keep them safe. Liam is a bounty hunter and I loved reading him when he was off catching someone. That being said, I did think he was really stupid at times in this book. Liam does his best to fix that, but I guess it kind of stuck?

Maddie is a very determined young woman. She’s had a crush on Liam and knows how to get under his skin. I love reading about Maddie dancing and how much she loves what she does. There’s definitely a lot of determination and love for that field. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way at times was how obsessed she is with losing her virginity. I get it, but I think it’s mentioned just a bit too much during this story.

I have to be honest that Always Mine wasn’t my favorite of the series so far. I really enjoyed it, but how the storyline went for Liam was just a bit too obvious. A lot of romances can be a bit predictable, but when certain parts of the story played out I knew how it would go. I honestly would’ve enjoyed this just a bit more if the twist was different, maybe with Liam’s work. It’s hard describing this without giving too much away. You’ll have to read it to know what I mean.

Always Mine is definitely slow burn romance done right. I loved the chemistry and tension between these characters, but also the fun and sweet moments. Even though they don’t seem to be the perfect couple, I think they really bring out the best in each other. The stolen kisses and intense moments were amazing! Kennedy Fox really makes you feel the sparks come to life.

On top of Liam and Maddie’s story, we get to read about the characters from the first two duets. Even though these are all standalones, I love getting updates about the characters I’ve come to love along the way. Hunter and Lennon are definitely my favorite. All in all, I really did enjoy Always Mine. There was a slow burn romance and moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to get my hands on Always Yours!

Rehearsals, leotards, and textbooks—that was my life.

Dancing is all I’ve ever known, but when Liam’s problems turn everything upside down, I’m thrust into a world I know nothing about. Secrets and betrayal changed the man I’ve fallen for and he isn’t who I thought he was. Regardless, Liam is all I’ve ever wanted and though I’m struggling with my emotions, deep down I’d do anything for him.

When Liam admitted his true feelings, things finally fell into place. Now they’re falling apart. Saving our relationship is his top priority, but keeping him alive is mine. Corruption and power are their game and Liam is nothing more than a pawn. Playing by the rules won’t end well, but I can’t let him fight alone this time.

Our happily ever after is so close I can taste it, but then it quickly crashes and burns, threatening to destroy us. Giving up on the love of my life isn’t an option, but in the end I might not be able to save him.

ALWAYS YOURS is a slow-burn, intense romance wrapped up in a suspenseful beautiful love story. It’s book 2 in the Liam & Madelyn duet and must be read in order.
