TTT #114 | 2020 Releases Part 2

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Anticipated 2020 Releases (for the first half of the year). Earlier this morning Isabelle did this one as well. You can read that one here. It was such a fun topic and 2020 has so many releases, I decided to do this one as well and write a part 2!

Ruthless Gods – Emily A. Duncan
April 7th

Wicked Saints was a book that took me by surprise last year. I loved the world and characters this author created. People who have already read this one are really excited, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

The Empire of Gold – S.A. Chakraborty
June 30th

The first book I finished this year was The Kingdom of Copper and the ending left me wanting more. Even though I would’ve liked to have seen a bit more of the magic element in this trilogy so far, the characters and worldbuilding keep me coming back!

Last Girls – Demetra Brodsky
May 5th

Ever since this author wrote Dive Smack, I’ve been looking forward to her next book. Last Girls sounds like it’s going to be good, if not better. I have a feeling this story is going to be like one I’ve never read before, so is it May yet?!?

Undercover Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams
March 10th

This one shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. I loved The Bromance Book Club and it became one of my favorite reads of 2019! It will be interesting to see what love problem this book club will solve next.

Yes No Maybe So – Becky Albertalli & Aisha Saeed
February 4th

Becky Albertalli is an author I’ve enjoyed. Yes No Maybe So sounds like a contemporary I know I’m going to love. Two characters come together when both are having a bit of a hard time. Who knows how that will end up?

Verona Comics – Jennifer Dugan
April 21st

A book where two characters fall in love in an indie comic book store? Sounds like just the book for me! I love comics and geeky characters. Add a fun love story and I’m sold. Also, this cover is really cute!

Super Adjacent – Crystal Cestari
March 17th

I think Super Adjacent is putting two elements together that I really love: romance and super heroes. I can’t remember having a book like this before. This cover is also one that puts a smile on my face. I hope Super Adjacent lives up to my expectations!

By the Book – Amanda Sellet
May 12th

A character that loves books automatically makes me want to read a book, haha. I love the idea of using a guide of literary types to avoid to help a person’s love life. I think this will be a really interesting contemporary.

A Heart so Fierce and Broken – Brigid Kemmerer
January 7th

I’m happy to say when this comes online that this book will be on its way to my house! A Curse so Dark and Lonely was so good!! I know this isn’t exactly a sequel but we will see the same characters. There have been some mixed reviews and I hope I end up loving it!

Empress of Flames – Mimi Yu
May 14th

The Girl King was actually a fun surprise last year. I really enjoyed the worldbuilding, characters and plot. Also, look at this cover! I can’t wait to see what happens after all the twists and turns in the first book.

So these are ten 2020 releases I’m really excited about for this first half of the year! I have to say it was hard to only choose ten. If you ask me tomorrow, I may put together a different list. How about you? What books are you looking forward to? Feel free to leave you link in the comments!

  1. Great list! I’m planning to get to The Kingdom of Copper really soon so I’m ready for The Empire of Gold, and I want to cross A Curse So Dark and Lonely off my TBR, too.
