We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020. Because both Candyce and I were very excited for this topic and we planned on doing a post about this anyway, we decided to both do this one. So her TTT post will be up a bit later today. You should definitely check back in to see her picks. We tried to both pick 10 different books! Let’s get a look at those anticipated releases.
10. The Love Hypothesis – Laura Steven
March 5th 2020
I love Laura Steven and this new release sounds hilarious. It’s a LGTB romcom and I just know it will be important topics mixed with a lot of humor. Laura is a wonderful person and her debut is one of my favorite contemporary novels ever.
9. Heartstopper vol 3 – Alice Oseman
As you might have seen in my favorites list, Heartstopper vol 1&2 made it to the very top of my favorites in 2019. So of course the third volume made it to my most anticipated. And since it releases right before Valentines, you can bet I will be reading this Graphic Novel on Valentines Day <3
8. Hunting November – Adriana Mather
March 24th 2020
I really liked Killing November this year and I’m super excited for the sequel. The world was super interesting and I liked the characters. It’s a YA mystery/thriller and we all know I love those! The mystery was intriguing enough and I couldn’t put it down.
7. The Hand on the Wall – Maureen Johnson
January 21st 2020
Finally we’ll get all the answers we want! Or at least I hope we do haha. This conclusion to the Truly Devious series better lives up to my expectations or I’m going to be incredibly sad. I really enjoyed the first two books in this YA mystery/thriller series. Especially the dual timelines provided an interesting story!
6. Come Tumbling Down – Seanan McGuire
January 7th 2020
This is the fifth book in the Wayward Children series and it’s about my favorite character! It also supposedly will tell us what happened to certain characters after the events in the first book. These books are super quick reads and it’s actually out today! So hopefully I can start reading it super soon.
5. Incendiary – Zoraida Cordova
April 28th 2020
I’ve read two books by Zoraida Cordova and I really enjoyed them. This is the start of a new series and while I’m possibly anticipating her other book even more, I’m also very excited for this one. This one is inspired by Inquisition-era Spain and has to do with memory stealing magic.
4. The Damned – Renee Ahdieh
June 9th 2020
The Beautiful made it to my best of the year list so of course I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel! Especially after that cliffhanger, you know I NEED the next book haha. I also adore the cover and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. Hopefully the sequel will have a little bit more magical stuff than the first one, but the same amount of wonderful characters <3
3. House of Earth and Blood – Sarah J Maas
March 3rd 2020
I hope you all know I’m a big Sarah J. Maas fangirl! Throne of Glass is one of my favorite book series ever and it’s going to be weird to read a new Sarah J. Maas series this year. But I’m very excited to see what she came up with. Hopefully it will have that magically addictive feel to it and suck me in completely. I have very high hopes, hence this top 3 spot!
2. Chain of Gold – Cassandra Clare
March 3rd 2020
It was extremely hard to pick my nr 2 & 3 but in the end I went this way. These books are published the same day (what were they thinking? I guess neither wanted to crack and change the date!) but I think I would pick this one up first. Possibly because this world is more established so a bit easier to get into. I already got a glimpse of these characters in some short stories and I’m very excited. It’s also possible I’ll feel like The Wicked Powers will be closer once this book is published haha.
1. My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows
June 2nd 2020
And my most anticipated read for the first half of 2020! I have been waiting for this one for two years. After I finally picked up My Lady Jane, I knew I had to get the other two as soon as they released. These books are simply amazing! I can’t believe how well these authors write together and I truly hope they’ll pick another leading lady to make a couple of books about. Perhaps a couple of Mary’s! There has been loads of them haha. Anyway, I hope this won’t be the last book and I hope it’s as amazing as the first two.
These are my top 10 anticipated releases for the first half of 2020! Of course there are a lot more wonderful books coming out and I had trouble just picking 10 haha. But if I could only read 10 2020 releases in the coming 6 months, these will be the ones. Are you excited for any of these? And which are your most anticipated releases? Tell me in the comments!
