The month of October is perfect for all things spooky and creepy so I figured I’d look for a Halloween tag for you all. I found the Halloween Creatures Book tag over at Meltingpotsandothercalamaties and it was originally created by Anthony from Keep Reading Forward. This was a really fun tag to do and I made some simple images to go with the questions. Let’s get into it!
This first question is hard, simply because there are so many options for this one! I love all things magic and as a big fantasy reader, I have a lot of book to choose from haha. Since the prompt is witches I thought it would be fun to also pick a book that actually features them. One of my favorite witches ever is Manon from the Throne of Glass series. And if you’ve read the whole series, it shouldn’t be a surprise I’m picking Kingdom of Ash.
This is a bit of a vague prompt but I guess I have to pick a book I just didn’t understand. I guess Night Film could be the one here, I was super disappointed by the book while a ton of people absolutely loved it. Maybe I just didn’t get the book because the ending was a bit vague. There seemed to be multiple options for the ending and I absolutely hated it.
The one thing I truly can’t go without is Harry Potter. As you might know by now, I reread Harry Potter almost every year. I love these books, I love the movies and can’t imagine not having them in my life. Most of my funk’s are from the Harry Potter world and one of my bucket list items is going to Orlando to go to the Universal Studio’s Park for the Wizarding World part.
You might know I’m scared pretty easily haha. So the only books I read in the middle of the night are books I couldn’t put down, or super fluffy ones to help me calm down before I can go to sleep haha. It has happened a couple of times where I finished a scary book and I couldn’t sleep because I was scared haha. So what I’d do next is either start a fluffy book, or listen to a Harry Potter audiobook to calm me down haha.
I hardly ever DNF anything because I can’t stand not knowing how something ends. Sometimes I do put a book down for a while just because I’m reading a bunch of things or there’s another book I want to read more. Of course I can’t think of one I put down and picked back up now. After looking at my read books, I have to go with A Game of Thrones. I read about 100 pages and put it down for a while, I was confused my the story and wasn’t able to get a clear picture of all the characters. After a while, I think after watching the first episode of the tv show, I read the whole book again, and the whole series after that!
A lot of fluffy contemporary stories have a predictable ending, but I don’t mind that because you usually know it going in. When I’m reading a mystery or a thriller though, than I do want to be surprised. A book I unfortunately guessed the bad guy before I even started reading it was Stalking Jack the Ripper. I do own the rest of the series and have read the second book. This one was more enjoyable to me and I’m excited to read the next two books!
The third book in the Infernal Guard series, Severance, truly shocked me! Candyce and I talked about this series a lot so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you at all haha. Most authors wouldn’t make the choices S.G.D. Singh did and I loved her for it. This was a pretty unique series for me and it truly deserves more attention.
One of the most bone chilling books I have ever read is 172 Hours on the Moon. When I said I can’t sleep after reading some books, this is the one I think of immediately! This book was pretty creepy to start off with, but the ending was just insane. I don’t want to say to much in case you want to pick this book up yourself, and I do recommend it if you like scary stories.
It’s been quite awhile since I read this one, but whenever I get a question like this, the first book that comes to mind is The Wrath and the Dawn. This is set in a middle eastern type of world and we get to read about some delicious foods. I get hungry just thinking about it! Especially the figs come to mind haha.
This is a pretty interesting question! I don’t think about this often and there’s not one character that comes to mind right away. The only one I can think of is Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows. While he isn’t super greedy and I absolutely love him, I do think he fits. He isn’t greedy for money so to say, but he is greedy for revenge! And I love nothing more than that haha. Also, I cannot wait for the tv show!!
When I think of dark and evil characters I think of all the villains or perps in Karin Slaughter’s books. I love her thrillers, they are super dark and twisted. The one with the most dark and evil characters in my opinion is Pretty Girls, I still can’t get over how twisted this one was and highly recommend it to anyone who loves thrillers.
I’d say this is a pretty spoiler-y question so I’m picking a character that you now is dead before we start the story ;). Jacob from City of Ghosts & Tunnel and Bones is my favorite ghost and I can’t wait how his and Cassidy’s story continues.
The book that fits perfectly with this prompt is Small Spaces, it’s a MG horror and I was definitely creeped out. And to make it even better, it features scarecrows! I enjoyed it a lot and I can’t wait to read the sequel Dead Voices.
This was one of the longest tags I did! It was also a lot of fun and fits right in this month. Who do you think is a greedy character? And what books do you like to read in the middle of the night? Come talk to me in the comments!
