Sawyer Bennett is an author I’ve come to love for romance books. She writes different things like Dax (a hockey romance) and Gimme Some Sugar (a bit cleaner/sweet romance). Having enjoyed both, I was really curious about the Wicked Horse Vegas series.
The sixth book, Wicked Angel, was released this week and can be read as a standalone. A big thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC to read and review. Let’s talk about what I thought of this book!
Wicked Angel (Wicked Horse Vegas, Book #6)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: August 6, 2019
First there was pain, and now there is just… nothing. No one can ever understand the losses I’ve suffered. A solitary existence that consists of my work and the empty house that serves as a constant reminder of all I have lost.
After months of paralyzing emptiness, I turn to The Wicked Horse so I can feel something. Anything, really. Any shred of emotion that will explain why I’m still here. Any justification for why my life was spared and theirs were not.
It’s all in vain. Not even the debauchery of the notorious sex club can fill the hollowness that consumes me.
Until she walks in.
Absolutely perfect. Gorgeous and bends to my will. Gives me her body willingly, while expecting nothing more from me than the pleasure I offer her. And the more she gives, the more I find myself wanting to take.
Wanting to crawl out of my personal hell for this wicked angel.

Review
Wicked Angel is definitely different than most romances I read. The book starts out in Wicked Horse, a sex club for the rich. Having this described and the sex scenes in the beginning, it definitely leaned more toward erotica than romance. I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about this story until I got to know the characters more.
Elena has been hurt by men before and thinks Wicked Horse is the best solution for her. She can have sex, but there are not strings attached. No men that will get needy or becoming really clingy. Elena knows a relationship isn’t perfect and involves giving and taking, but for her it’s been too much taking. Deep down, she does want to fall in love with her own happily ever after, but it’s hard to trust anyone again. Elena is very independent and has her own hair salon and is a lot of fun.
Benjamin is a talented neurosurgeon, but after a tragic accident he became rather broken. After losing all he did, Benjamin decides he’s better off just not caring about anyone anymore. If he pushes everyone away, he can’t get hurt if someone dies or leaves. This makes Benjamin seem like a jerk, but there is so much more to him. My heart really broke for him!
Elena and Benjamin never expected to experience what they did when they met up to have sex at Wicked Horse. It was better than they expected and there was definitely a connection. It was fun reading about them being together. Besides being very steamy, the connection jumped off the page. It was interesting to see them get closer and try to hold off the feelings that were developing.
Wicked Angel is an amazing emotional journey for both characters who need to learn to heal and move on. Elena and Benjamin both deserve to be happy, but are learning how to let that happen again. This book is filled with very steamy scenes, romance, heartbreak, healing and amazing characters (including family and friends). I will definitely be reading the previous books in this series!
About the Author:
Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released multiple books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.
A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.
Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.
Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.
