When I read that Spin the Dawn was being pitched as Mulan meets Project Runway, I have to say that got my attention. This book came out almost a year ago, but I just haven’t had the chance to read it yet. Last month I picked it up at the bookstore to read for a group read this month. I’m so happy I finally picked this up, because Spin the Dawn was so good. Keep on reading for my full review!
We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
I hadn’t read any of Sandhya Menon’s books yet and even though they’re quite popular I wasn’t really planning on picking them up. But when her new book was announced I got quite excited! A contemporary Beauty and the Beast retelling set at a boarding school. Some of my favorite things right there. So let’s see if this one lived up to my expectations. Retellings are a lot of fun and have been very popular, especially when it comes to Beauty and the Beast. Hunted is one of those retellings and released in 2017. I’ve had it on my shelf since then and I finally picked it up to join a group read a friend set up. Today I want to tell you what I thought of this book!
House of Salt and Sorrows is a book I’ve heard a lot about in the last couple of months. After it released, a lot of people were really excited. I heard it was creepy, so I wanted to read it around Halloween. That didn’t happen, but I finally did a buddy read of it this month! Did it meet all my expectations? Keep on reading to find out!
Both of us enjoyed A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan and were excited to hear about her new book. Tiger Queen is available tomorrow, but thanks to the author, publisher and Fantasic Flying Book Club, we had the opportunity to read an e-ARC for this blog tour. Today we want to tell you what we thought of this book and share a few of our favorite quotes!
Shelfbrooke Academy has been a fun series so far and I’ve read a few of them so far (Twelfth Knight, Tessa and Sway). All of them can be read as standalones. Love Lessons is the fifth book and a modern day retelling of the classic Shakespeare play Love’s Labour’s Lost. I’ve never read that, but this book sounded like something for me!
A big thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC to read and review!
This month I was introduced to a new to me author, Jessica Bucher. Her newest book, Twelfth Knight, comes out tomorrow and it’s one I really recommend. It’s a modern day retelling of the classic Shakespeare comedy. Thanks to the author for providing me an ARC to read and review!
Both of us were really curious about A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan. After the chat in TBR & Beyond we both got to reading! What did we think of this King Midas retelling? Keep reading to find out!
We both loved My Lady Jane and were upset that we waited so long to pick it up. That’s why when My Plain Jane came out, we knew we needed to grab it right away. Our expectations were pretty high! If you want to know if this book met our expectations, check out our review.
