One of my most anticipated releases of the year was All Of Us Villains, so of course I was extremely excited to get an eARC. And for once I read the book before the release date haha. It doesn’t happen often but it did this time! And today I want to share my thoughts about the story. So let’s jump right in.

I quite enjoy the cover! It’s pretty simple, has nice illustrations and the color scheme fits with the story super well. This is definitely a type of cover I like and I would pick this book up in the bookstore if I hadn’t heard of it yet.

Review

As soon as I read the synopsis, and even just the tagline I think, I was sold. This was a book I wanted to read so badly. I love villains and morally grey characters so I was really hoping to get those kinds of characters in this book. Since there is a bit of a tournament I was also expecting a lot of deaths haha.

So after reading this, you know I was expecting some brutal villains haha. And I just have to say, I was a bit disappointed. After reading a big part of the book, I just couldn’t see these characters as villains. Closer to the ending some of them seemed a bit more like villains, which I loved by the way, but overall I felt like the marketing didn’t do the best job.

We get to read from 4 POV’s and there are 7 champions competing in the tournament. Knowing that I immediately realised we wouldn’t be getting a ton of deaths and while those were brutal in The Hunger Games, that also set the tone of the story and I ‘liked’ that. I was hoping for something similar, as that also really gives you those villains. Unfortunately that didn’t happen.

But after these critiques I have to say, I really loved this book. I loved the characters and really enjoyed getting to know them. It took me a bit to see who I liked most and I think I have to go with Alistair with Isobel as a close second. Gavin and Briony are the other two main characters and I think Briony was my least favorite unfortunately.

The plot was interesting and I especially enjoyed the world (or rather the town). We got some interesting world building with the curse. I also enjoyed the magic system and it felt detailed enough to make sense to me.

Like I said, we got an interesting plot and we also got a good cliffhanger! I really want to read the sequel, and I would love to get it right away haha. Throughout the book I wanted to keep on reading and reading especially when we got more towards the end haha. I would highly recommend this book to any YA fantasy lover. But I will say, it’s a bit slow and the villains aren’t that bad haha ;). Still very enjoyable and a book to pick up!
