Down the TBR Hole #63

Okay, it’s been two weeks and time for another Down the TBR Hole. I have a feeling I’ve added a few books to my want to read shelf since my last post. It’s just a struggle with how many books sound so amazing! I really need an extra day in the week to just read.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 860 (my last post ended at 851. I was right about me adding some books to this shelf in the past couple of weeks…)

Cast in Firelight – Dana Swift

I actually started reading this one when it released, but of course I got distracted. The magic system seemed really interesting and I do want to finish this one. I really need to make a list of books I’ve started but didn’t finish.

Keep

Havenfall – Sara Holland

Havenfall is a book I received for my birthday last year. It seems like I got this one a lot longer ago. The cover is stunning and a few of my friends enjoyed this story. I have a feeling this is going to be a wild ride.

Keep

The Game – Linsey Miller

The Game is a book I received in a Halloween swap last year and I wanted to read it right away, but didn’t get around to it. This seems like the perfect book to read on a dark and rainy day. It’s also not very long, so it won’t take me long to fly through this one.

Keep

Rush – Kandi Steiner

Rush sounds like a series for me, but I’m just not sure when I’m going to get around to reading it. I don’t own these books yet, so I think it’s best for me to remove this one for now. Hopefully I will come back to it!

Remove

Bookstores, Crushes, and Mortal Enemies – Katie Kaleski

This contemporary sounds like something I’d love, but I have to say I really haven’t heard anyone talk about it. To be honest, I don’t think I’ll get around to reading this one. I don’t even own it yet.

Remove

Crown of Feathers – Nicki Pau Preto

Crown of Feathers has such a stunning cover and this is another book I did start reading. I’ve only read a few chapters, but what I had read was interesting. When I read the first few chapters I read the e-book, but bought the paperback after that. I need to get back to it!

Keep

Iron Widow – Xiran Jay Zhao

Iron Widow is actually a new release (it came out this week) and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book. I’ll definitely be picking up this book.

Keep

Conventionally Yours – Annabeth Albert

As a big fan of reading anything with fandoms and conventions it didn’t take me long to know I needed to read this book. I have the e-book and audio, so nothing is stopping me. I guess I just don’t want to be done with it yet, haha. Seeing how I own the second book in this world I should read this one really soon.

Keep

Blade of Secrets – Tricia Levenseller

The main character prefers metal over people and I completely understand that, haha. I’ve enjoyed this author’s writing before and I’m really excited to read Blade of Secrets. So I can’t resist wanting to read Blade of Secrets.

Keep

The Strangers – Margaret Peterson Haddix

Middle grade mysteries are so much fun and The Strangers is one I didn’t get around to last year. Hopefully I can listen to the audiobook of this one soon.

Removal Percentage: 20%
Current “to-read” shelf: 858

So that’s my Down the TBR Hole for this week and I didn’t do very well. What do you think of the decisions I’ve made? Would you have done anything different? If you’ve read any of these books I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let me know in the comments!
