Bookhaul | August 2026

Another month is over! How is that possible?!? We’re now heading into the final three months of the year. The start of a new month means we’re looking back at the previous month as well. Did we add any new books to our shelves in August? Keep on reading our August bookhaul to find out!

In August I added 5 books to my shelves. After spending a lot of money on my wedding dress last month, it was a slow bookish month. I am excited about all of these books though! Maybe I’ll actually have a chance at doing well with my looking back at our bookhauls next year, haha.

Leave and Come Back – Lavanya Lakshmi

Leave and Come Back was Illumicrate’s July book, but it didn’t get delivered until the beginning of August. I was surprised that this was the normal hardcover size. Afterlight always is a hardcover, but they’re normally the size of a paperback. That being said, it’s still a stunning edition. Our main character’s new boyfriend accidentally shows up to a two-week-long family wedding. I know that will turn out to be very interesting.

A Snake Among Swans – Hannah Kaner

I got A Snake Among Swans the same day Leave and Come Back arrived. This edition is truly stunning! A dark epic fantasy? Yes, please! I will say I don’t know much about this book and I think I’ll go in blind.

The Poison Daughter – Sheila Masterson

The Poison Daughter is a book I’ve been seeing a lot lately and it sounds amazing! Our main character can kill someone by giving them a kiss. Until she can’t! And the one she can’t just happens to be her betrothed. This is going to be fun! It’s a big book though!

Never Keep & Echo Fort – Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

So I’m still in the middle of the Zodiac Academy series and I’ve even read a couple of books in their Age of the Vampires series, but this Sins of the Zodiac series has had me intrigued. The hardcovers aren’t cheap, but I recently saw them for a third of their price, so I couldn’t pass them up.

I only got one audiobook through Audible this month. At the moment I’m rereading and doing puzzles haha, so audiobooks are the only way I might actually read a new book I guess. Let’s take a look at that audiobook.

Audible

The Ballad of Falling Dragons – Sarah A. Parker

I read When the Moon Hatched 2 years ago and of course I want to read the sequel. This world was really interesting, but also a bit complicated haha. I really enjoyed the first book, but I will say I have forgotten a lot of details so I might have to reread book 1 or look up a summary ;).

So that’s our August bookhaul! Do you have any of these? Or what’s your favorite haul of the month? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
