Review| Dom-Com – Adriana Anders

Romance is one of my favorite genres, so I’m always on the lookout to authors I haven’t read anything by. Dom-Com is one that caught my eye. The synopsis sounded like so much fun. It’s finally time for me to tell you about this book and what I thought.

A big thank you to Netgalley and Forever for providing me with an eARC to read and review. This doesn’t affect my opinion in any way!

An experienced Dom and a baby sub must keep their kink-lives a secret after discovering they’ve just become office mates and professional rivals in this super-steamy contemporary romcom, perfect for fans of Lana Ferguson and Tessa Bailey.

An irresistible collision of dominance, deadlines, and an extremely inconvenient desire.

All Rae Jensen has to do is walk through the door. Inside the club is everything she’s wanted but was afraid to ask for: a ridiculously hot, brooding Dom with a sharp jawline, sexy forearms, and a low voice that sends goosebumps along her skin when he says “People here call me the General.” For one night, she can forget the stress and her endless responsibilities . . . and just be a saucy little sub, no questions asked.

It’s been a while since Grant Bowman met someone like Rae. Although he’s an experienced Dom, he doesn’t do newbies, especially ones who are such a sweet distraction. But one night couldn’t possibly hurt—until the General discovers they’ll be working together IRL at his new consulting job. Now what started as control is turning into the kind of chaos that destroys careers. But there’s no safe word for falling in love…

Review

The premise of this book sounded like so much fun. I love the idea of two people having a one night stand or a sexy meet cute and find out they’ll be working together. The fact that it would be a dom/sub relationship made Dom-Com sound like it was going to be a great time. And it was! There were a lot of laugh out loud and swoon worthy moments throughout this story.

Rae is definitely our sunshine in this case and she’s really just looking for something for herself. She feels like she needs to take care of everyone and this doesn’t leave much room for her wants, needs, or dreams. I loved the fact that her passion was making booknooks. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered that in a story before. That was just so special. Rae’s journey was an interesting one. While getting to know Grant she really starts to go after what she wants and to put up some boundaries!

Grant sticks to being a dom, but doesn’t have time for a new sub in his life or a relationship. Having a mother getting married so much when you were a child doesn’t exactly build up your faith in love. He’s determined to get the job done that he was hired for, but doesn’t expect Rae to be such a distraction. Grant really starts opening up and realizes that love may not be such a bad idea.

These two together brought so much tension! It really jumped off of the page! The spicy scenes were well written. I do feel like the last half of the book put the dom/sub aspect of this story on the backburner. I wasn’t expecting that and the club to be explored just a little bit more? That definitely would’ve added to the story for me. Also, Rae’s sisters are so much fun and I definitely think they deserve a good love story. I can’t wait to see if this author will write more in this world.

I had a great time with Dom-Com and I definitely think I need to read more by this author. She’s written quite a bit! Have you read any new to you romance authors recently? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
