Review| Love Overboard – Kandi Steiner

I’m not someone who watches a lot of reality TV except for some cooking competitions. That being said, Love Overboard sounded like it would be right up my alley, so I had to give this one a go. Today I’m going to tell you all about this book and what I thought!

A big thank you to Netgalley and Arndell for providing me with an eARC to read and review. This doesn’t affect my opinion in any way.

From USA Today, #1 Amazon, and BookTok bestselling author Kandi Steiner comes a sizzling, second-chance romance set on the high seas—perfect for fans of Below Deck and readers who crave angsty, high-stakes love stories.

Ember Reed is finally living her chief stew on a Mediterranean superyacht, sun-kissed days at sea, and the star of Close Quarters, the hottest new reality TV show. But just as she finds her stride, the producers throw her a curveball—by hiring the one man who nearly sank her.

Finn Pearson was the one that got away. The boy who kissed her like they had forever, then left without a word. But now he’s the chef in her new crew, and the cameras are watching their every move, innocent, or not.

Even on a superyacht, there’s nowhere to hide from the past. Every stolen glance, every whispered argument, every lingering memory threatens to ignite what never fully burned out. And as the tension spills into their day jobs, even the dinner service is spiralling into disaster.

They’ve crashed before… but could eight weeks at sea be their second chance to get it right? Or will it be the storm that finally sinks them for good?

Review

Love Overboard caught my attention even though I don’t watch reality TV shows like Below Deck, but I love concepts like this in romances. The set up of this book is so much fun. I love how we get the professionals at the beginning of each chapter and that the different guests are described every time a new set of people board the ship. There are some interesting characters that give us some great moments with the ship’s crew.

Ember is excited to start her new journey as Chief Stew and prove to herself and her father that this is a good career. What she doesn’t expect is her ex being the chef and him being there with his new girlfriend. So we know the drama will only increase from here. I appreciated the little flashbacks of Ember thinking about her time with Finn. Even though we don’t get his POV, these little moments help us get to know him just a little bit more. The tension and longing jump off of the pages! While there was some miscommunication and some drama I normally don’t love in romances, it really worked in Love Overboard. So much so that I read this one almost completely in one sitting.

Also, I have to say I loved a few of the side characters in this one and I would be very happy if they get their own stories! I really hope that Kandi Steiner stays in this world just a little bit longer.

After reading Love Overboard, I would love to see some side characters get their own books! Are you a fan of reality TV? Do you have any favorites? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
