Our monthly wrap up posts have come online, so it’s time for our scariest post of the month. Looking back at our bookhauls is a post to see if we actually read the books we add to our shelves. This month we’re looking back at our September 2024 bookhaul. Let’s take a look!
Candyce
In September 2024 I added 22 books to my shelves. I splurged a bit during our vacation last year. Now it’s time to see what I’ve read!

Shadows of Perl – J. Elle
Unread
I had to get this one because of the special hardcover the first printing had. The third and final book in this trilogy is actually releasing soon. So I really need to add these to the top of my TBR.

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Vol. 2 – Mashiro
Read
I’ve enjoyed all of the volumes published in this manga series so far. I’m sad the date for the next volume (I believe volume 6) hasn’t been announced yet.

The Games Gods Play – Abigail Owen
Unread
I’m actually very surprised I haven’t read The Games Gods Play yet, because it sounds right up my alley. This is another book that has a sequel releasing soon. So I need to get to this one.

Wild Eyes – Elsie Silver
Read
Elsie Silver has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Wild Eyes was so fun and this romance had me smiling while reading it. At the moment I have the fourth and final book in this series to read. I’m sad the series is coming to an end.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea – TJ Klune
Unread
The House in the Cerulean Sea is still one of my all time favorite books and I think part of me is scared to read this sequel. While I’m excited about Arthur’s story, I’m afraid it’s not going to live up to my expectations.

Just for the Summer – Abby Jimenez
Read
It seems I keep loving every book I read by Abby Jimenez just a little bit more. Just for the Summer was another amazing book. I couldn’t put this down and I loved both of these characters. This is a book I definitely see myself reading again in the future.

Not in Love – Ali Hazelwood
Read
Not in Love is a book that had some mixed reviews, but I ended up really enjoying this story. It took me a little bit to be completely sucked in, but once that happened I couldn’t put this book down.

Wicked Beauty – Katee Robert
Read
Wicked Beauty is a MMF romance and I had a great time! I loved the competition side of this romance story. I should put the fourth book on my Christmas wishlist.

Daydream – Hannah Grace
Unread
Okay, I really need to finish this series. Daydream seems like it’ll be my favorite of the three. I mean, our main character has a book club! Need I say more?!?

Tryst Six Venom – Penelope Douglas
Read/Unhaul
I actually read Tryst Six Venom last month and I will say I didn’t end up loving it. The main characters had an interesting journey and I appreciated their development. That being said, it was a bit too steamy for me. I needed more story.

Grimstone – Sophie Lark
Read
I said in the bookhaul that this seemed like a perfect read for spooky season and that it was. Grimstone was a good read. I should read Monarch this month to finish the duology.

Death at Morning House – Maureen Johnson
Read
Truly Devious is still one of my favorite YA mystery series and I had a good time with Death at Morning House. I think I do prefer the Truly Devious books just a little bit more.

Five Brothers – Penelope Douglas
Unread
After not loving Tryst Six Venom I’m a little nervous about Five Brothers. I am curious about the characters we met in said book. I do want to read this before the end of the year.

The Half King – Melissa Landers
Unread
So I actually did start reading The Half King but I ended up distracted, haha. I do feel like this book is a good one to read during the autumn and winter. I hope to pick it up soon.

Rewitched – Lucy Jane Wood
Read
Rewitched was a cozy, witchy read that I had a great time with. Our main character learns to trust her magic and believe in herself. I have the second book in the series on my shelves to read in October.

Haunted Ever After – Jen DeLuca
Read
I loved the idea of a haunted town and private ghost tours. If I remember correctly, I did want more of the characters together than we got in the story. Haunted Ever After was still a great time.

A Jingle Belle Mingle – Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone
Read
The final book in this trilogy was as good as I was hoping. I loved seeing Isaac open up and get to know him. I’m still sad that this was the final book in this world.

The Break-Up Pact – Emma Lord
Read
I finally read this stunning book and it was a great time. Friends to lovers and fake dating? I love those tropes together. The only thing I wanted was his POV and maybe a little more communication near the end of the book.

Truly Madly Deeply – LJ Shen
Unread
I still need to read this grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers romance. I want to say there are more books in this series now.

Double Apex – Josie Juniper
Read/Unhaul
Double Apex was a book I was excited to read, but it ended up letting me down. I appreciated the family/grief story line, but I didn’t like the main character at all. That made it really hard for me to enjoy this story.

Those We Drown – Amy Goldsmith
Read/Unhaul
Those We Drown started off really spooky and was perfect for a rainy day read. I had a good time with this story, but the ending was bit of a let down. It didn’t fit the story in my opinion.

The Society for Soulless Girls – Laura Steven
Unread
After reading a couple of gothic/darker stories letting me down, I decided to not pick this up right away. It’s one I still do want to read this spooky season.
End Result:
Read: 14/22 – 63.6%
TBR: 8/22 – 36.4%
Isabelle
I didn’t get any physical books in September 2024, but I did share 3 books I got through Audible. So let’s take a look at those!
Audible

Iron Flame (Part 2 of 2) (Dramatized Adaptation) – Rebecca Yarros
Read
I immediately listened to this one, I love the Graphic Audio versions! As they say it’s a movie inside your mind. The special effects elevate the audiobook to another level and I wish all audiobooks were done like this, especially fantasy and sci-fi books.

The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King – Carissa Broadbent
Read
I really enjoyed the first book in this duology, so I was really excited for this sequel. Unfortunately I didn’t love it as much as the first one. It was still a decent book, but not one I would recommend or remember much from haha.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters – Laini Taylor
Read
I read the first book in the series years ago and I’m happy I finally finished the series. This is such an amazing series and it still holds up today. I would highly recommend picking it up if you missed it when it first came out.
End Result:
Read: 3/3 – 100%
TBR: 0/3 – 0%
That’s another looking back at our bookhauls post! Have you read any of these books? Or do you keep track if you read the books you buy? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
