Bookhaul | September 2024

How is it possible we’re already entering the final three months of 2024? This year really is flying by, and with another month over it’s time to talk about everything books. Today it’s time to talk about our September bookhauls. Did we add any new books to our shelves? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

In Sepetember I added 22 books to my shelves. I was on vacation most of the month and we had a few outings to bookstores. Seeing how we didn’t really go away, I splurged a little on books. Let’s see what I got!

Shadows of Perl – J. Elle

Even though I haven’t read House of Marionne yet, I needed to get Shadows of Perl. Just like the first book, this one has a really pretty hardcover under the dust jacket. This story does sound amazing though, and I’ll be reading it with a friend soon.

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Vol. 2 – Mashiro

I watched this anime with the boyfriend and really enjoyed it. A few months ago I got the first volume of the manga and decided to continue collecting the volumes. I love that the manga is just a little different and will likely pass what I saw in the anime.

The Games Gods Play – Abigail Owen

Red Tower has been giving us amazing books this year, and I have a feeling The Games Gods Play will be another. It’s described as The Hunger Games meets Hades & Persephone. Sign me up!

Wild Eyes – Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is a romance author I’ve come to love and Wild Eyes is her newest release. I love her small town romances and I’ll be surprised if I don’t end up loving the next book in the Rose Hill series.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea – TJ Klune

The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books, so of course I had to order the sequel. Somewhere Beyond the Sea is Arthur’s story and I can’t wait to learn more about him and be back with this amazing group of characters.

Just for the Summer – Abby Jimenez

After reading Part of Your World and Yours Truly, I’ve been wanting to read Just for the Summer since it released earlier this year. When I visited the bookstore, I decided it was time to pick this one up. Hopefully I’ll read it before September is over.

Not in Love – Ali Hazelwood

So far I’ve read and loved everything by Ali Hazelwood, but I only just now grabbed Ali’s newest release. Not in Love seems to be one that’s been getting some mixed reviews, but I’m still excited to read this one myself. The paperback is very floppy and that always makes me happy.

Wicked Beauty – Katee Robert

At the beginning of the month I read Electric Idol and loved it, so I decided I needed the next book in the Dark Olympus series. I noticed that this one has an art page at the beginning. The other two didn’t have that! I hope that I love Wicked Beauty as much as I loved the first two books.

Daydream – Hannah Grace

Daydream is the third book in the Maple Hills series and I’ve been waiting for this one. I believe that our main character loves books and the male main character ends up in her book club? It sounds like one that I’ll really love.

Tryst Six Venom – Penelope Douglas

Penelope Douglas is an author I want to read more by. Tryst Six Venom is one I decided to pick up, because it’s said it’s good to read this one before one of her newer releases Five Brothers. I hear great things about this author, so it’s my turn to try a few more books by.

Grimstone – Sophie Lark

Sophie Lark has written quite a few romances that I’ve loved, so when I saw that Grimstone was being traditionally published, I had to order the beautiful paperback. This seems to be more of a gothic romance and it sounds like it’ll be perfect for spooky season.

Death at Morning House – Maureen Johnson

Truly Devious is one of my favorite YA mystery series, so I had to get my hands on Death at Morning House. I’ll also be reading this for a book discussion in October. Mysteries and spooky season always go well together!

Five Brothers – Penelope Douglas

Like I already said earlier, I want to read more by Penelope Douglas. Five Brothers is a standalone, but I’veĀ  read that other readers recommend to read Tryst Six Venom first before reading this one. This paperback is so floppy and I love it.

The Half King – Melissa Landers

The Half King is Fairyloot’s romantasy pick for September and sounds really good. I love when characters have hidden magic and I love that the King in this book is slowly disappearing. I’ll be reading this soon.

Rewitched – Lucy Jane Wood

A warm, cozy, witchy read? Yes, please! I couldn’t resist Rewitched for this upcoming spooky season. It may be more about our main character finding her spark again, but anything witchy belongs in spooky season in my eyes.

Haunted Ever After – Jen DeLuca

Haunted Ever After is the swoonalong read for October and I’m excited to pick this one up. All I know is it has ghosts and we have a private ghost tour? Add in some romance and I think this will be a lot of fun.

A Jingle Belle Mingle – Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone

Of course, I’ll be adding some holiday reads to my TBR. A Jingle Bell Mingle is the last of the Christmas Notch series and I’m sad it’s over. I’ve been wanting Isaac’s story since the first book, so I know I’ll devour this one.

The Break-Up Pact – Emma Lord

This is September’s Afterlight book and I love this edition! The Break-Up Pact has been on my radar since before it released, so I knew I needed it. We have two best friends who haven’t talked in ten years who end up fake dating. That’s all I need to know about this book to want to read it.

Truly Madly Deeply – L.J. Shen

L.J. Shen is another author I’ve been wanting to read more from and when I saw that Truly Madly Deeply had a stunning cover and sprayed edges, I needed to get my hands on it. This is a grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers romance and sounds right up my alley.

Double Apex – Josie Juniper

So I’m not a Formula 1 fan at all, but I am a big fan of sports romance. Double Apex is a book I’ve heard a lot of good things about. This one actually doesn’t release until today, but it was already in my bookstore last weekend.

Those We Drown – Amy Goldsmith

Spooky season has arrived, so I wanted some darker reads for the month. Those We Drown seems to be part horror and part mystery? All I know is Those We Drown sounds like a perfect rainy night read.

The Society of Soulless Girls – Laura Steven

Even though I loved The Exact Opposite of Okay by this author, I am a bit behind on her more recent releases. The Society of Soulless Girls is another one that sounds like it’s perfect for this time of year. This is a YA with a supernatural twist. Sounds good to me!

Isabelle

It’s been awhile since I’ve said this, but I didn’t get any new books this month! I did realise I didn’t share which books I choose for my Audible credits in the last couple of bookhauls so I will do that today. These are the last 3 audiobooks I got.

Audible

Iron Flame (Part 2 of 2) (Dramatized Adaptation) – Rebecca Yarros

I loved listening to the Iron Flame audiobook and as soon as the second part of the Graphic Audio version was released, I knew I had to get it. This is such a wonderful experience and I wish all audiobooks were done this way! I’m already looking forward to the Onyx Storm ones.

The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King – Carissa Broadbent

I really enjoyed The Serpent and the Wings of Night and had been looking forward to this sequel ever since. Since I had to wait for a little bit, I somehow totally forgot about this release. But this summer I was reminded of it and I immediately used my Audible credit to get this audiobook.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters – Laini Taylor

I have been wanting to finish more series and especially ones that I have started years ago and have had the full series on my shelves for years. So after finishing the Red Queen series I picked Daughter of Smoke & Bone series to finish. I loved the start of this series and was pretty sad that I didn’t keep going. Now I have finally listened to the last book in the series and I’m happy I can cross another series off the list. I also really liked the story and I’m happy to have read it.

So that’s our September bookhaul! Have you read any of these? if not, what did you add to your shelves? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to hear from you.
