It’s time for the scariest post on our blog every month. Did we read the books we bought a year ago? This post is meant to motivate us to read the books we buy, so it is a good one. Today we’ll be talking about our June 2024 bookhaul. Let’s start our looking back at our bookhaul post for this month.
Candyce
In June 2024 I added 17 books to my shelves. I know I read a few before the haul was posted, but let’s see how I’ve done since then.

Diary of a Young Girl – Mallory Smith
Unread
Non-fiction isn’t something I read often, but this is one that caught my eye. I’ve been thinking about reading a few entries every day.

How to Become the Dark Lord or Die Trying – Django Wexler
Unread
I bought How to Become the Dark Lord or Die Trying to suggest for my in person book club. It didn’t get picked, and I still haven’t read it. I know the sequel in this duology just released, so it’s time to pick this one up.

Off to the Races – Elsie Silver
Read
After Chestnut Springs I wanted to read everything by Elsie Silver. Off to the Races was a fun book, but it wasn’t better than that series. I loved seeing these two characters slowly grow closer. I have the next book on my shelves that I hope to read soon.

The Honey Witch – Sydney J. Shields
Unread
The Honey Witch was a very hyped book before it released. After the release I kept seeing some mixed reviews, so part of me has been hesitant to read this one. I’m still a reader who likes to form my own opinions, so I’m hoping to pick it up soon.

The Rage of Dragons – Evan Winter
Read
Another hyped book I kept seeing everywhere. The Rage of Dragons was our book club read and I actually couldn’t put this book down. It’s over 500 pages, but didn’t feel that way. I do want to continue with this series.

Sleeping Giants – Sylvain Neuvel
Read
I just recently read Sleeping Giants, but it was such a pleasant surprise. It’s told through interviews and diary entries. The audiobook is full cast, so it was fun to listen while reading along. I really don’t know where this will go in the next two books.

One Last Shot – Betty Cayouette
Unread
This still seems like a good summer romance to me, so now is the perfect time to pick it up. I just got the audiobook, so I’ll have to prioritize One Last Shot.

The Wren in the Holly Library – K.A. Linde
Read
The Wren in the Holly Library was a book that had me hooked from the start. I really enjoyed the world and the characters. The sequel just released last month, and I can’t wait to see where Kierse’s story takes us next.

Masters of Death – Olivie Blake
Read
After loving Atlas Six, I wanted to read more books by Olivie Blake. Unfortunately, Masters of Death isn’t one I loved. I felt confused most of the time and really didn’t know what was going on. Part of me wonders if this author is for me.

Late Bloomer – Mazey Eddings
Read
Late Bloomer was a lot of fun. One of our main characters wins the lottery and buys a house. The other main character doesn’t think that’s right, but they do stay together to figure it out. Slowly, they start to get to know each other. I couldn’t put this book down.

A Condition Called Love Vol. 4 – Vol. 8 – Megumi Morino
Read
I’ve mentioned before that I enjoyed the anime for this series. I ended up picking these up and enjoying them. There are certain things that I read in here that aren’t in the anime. So that makes it a lot of fun to read.

When the Moon Hatched – Sarah A. Parker
Unread
Another very hyped book that I’m excited about, but also very nervous to read. I’ve been waiting for the moment when I don’t see it everywhere. That time is now, so I need to get to it soon. I think the release date of book two got pushed back. At least, I’ll be caught up until then.

Nectar of the Wicked – Ella Fields
Unread
I’m not sure why I haven’t read this one yet. It just hasn’t caught my eye? I do want to read more of my special editions before the year is up. I’ll have to put this one high on that list.

The Darkness Between Us – Tricia Levenseller
Read
I wasn’t expecting to get a sequel to The Shadows Between Us, but I’m glad we did. Chrysantha was an interesting character and Eryx was a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun to be back in this world.
End Result:
Read: 11/17 – 64.7%
TBR: 6/17 – 35.3%
Isabelle
I only got one new book last year haha. So this is a quick post for me. Of course, getting just one new book is never a guarantee that I also read that book, so let’s take a look.

Diary of a Romantica vol. II: Lovers Remembered – Celia Martinez
Read
I started reading this book as soon as I got it. Usually I’m not a big poetry reader, but every now and then I really enjoy a good poetry collection. I already read the first volume of Celia’s Diary of a Romantica and loved it. Celia is an amazing poet and I love her on TikTok and Instagram. I would highly recommend following her online!
End Result:
Read: 1/1 – 100%
TBR: 0/1 – 0%
