Looking Back at Our Bookhauls | May 2024

The first Monday of the month means it’s time for us to look back at we added to our shelves. Looking Back at Our Bookhauls is a scary post, because have we actually read what we add to our shelves? Today we’re looking back at our May 2024 bookhaul. Let’s see how we did!

Candyce

In May 2024, I added 10 books to my shelves as well as my Kobo Libra Color. Which I still love! Let’s see how I did with the books I bought.

The Book Eaters – Sunyi Dean
Read

The concept of eating books for food and absorbing all of the knowledge was very interesting. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for this one as much as I had hoped.

Truly, Madly, Deeply – Alexandria Bellefleur
Read

I enjoyed this romantic comedy and I loved both of their looks on love. The only thing I would’ve loved is more of the podcast they were working on together. I love that kind of things in books.

A Sign of Affection Vol. 9 – Suu Morishita
Read

A Sign of Affection is still my favorite manga series. It’s only frustrating that I can read a volume in about 30 minutes, haha. The wait between volumes is so long though! I just recently read volume 11.

Five Broken Blades – Mai Corland
Read

Five Broken Blades was such a wild ride! All of the POVs really make you wonder who you can believe and the ending wasn’t what I was expecting. The sequel released at the beginning of the year, but I still haven’t gotten to it yet.

Sweet Nightmare – Tracy Wolff
Unread

So I haven’t read this one yet, because I want to finish the Crave series. The fifth book has been unread on my shelves for a bit and that really needs to change in the near future. I want to say the sequel to Sweet Nightmare released this year.

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 Vol. 1 – Mashiro
Read

Like I said in the haul post, I don’t game myself, but I love stories with gamers. Since this post, I’ve read the next four volumes. It’s still a lot of fun! I hope we get the sixth volume soon.

The Dixon Rule – Elle Kennedy
Read

The Off Campus series is one of my favorite sports romance series and I loved the idea of us getting the next generation. The Graham Effect was really good, so I had high expectations for The Dixon Rule. The book lived up to that and then some!

A Curse of Blood and Wolves – Melissa McTernan
Unread

A Curse of Blood and Wolves is a Little Red Riding Hood that I haven’t read yet. I’m still really curious about this one. I should change that soon, because this edition is stunning.

Heavenbreaker – Sara Wolf
Read

Heavenbreaker was such and intriguing read that kept me hooked from the start. After hearing some mixed reviews, I wasn’t sure what it was going to be like, but I was very much pleasantly surprised. The sequel was supposed to release this year, but it seems it was pushed back to next year.

The Temptation of Magic – Megan Scott
Read

I actually just read The Temptation of Magic last week and I have some mixed feeling about it. The concept was interesting, but this book felt like it took forever to read. I didn’t really feel like I got to know the characters and while we got a lot of info dump, I never felt like we got the background information we needed. I’m not sure I’ll be reading the next book.

End Result:
Read: 8/10 – 80%
TBR: 2/10 – 20%

Isabelle

May 2024 was a big book month for me! I think that was the last time I got that many books at once haha. After getting some extra money I spend it on 23 new books haha. Most of them were manga, so I have pretty good hopes for the looking back post.

Haikyu 26-45 – Haruichi Furudate
Read

I can’t believe it was only a year ago that I still had almost have of the Haikyu series left to read. It is one of my favorite manga ever and I can’t wait to reread the whole series.

The Promised Neverland 8 – Kaiu Shirai
Unread

I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet! It’s another manga series I really enjoy, but I haven’t gotten to this one yet. I have been focused on another manga series, but I hope to get back to this one soon.

Dune & Dune Messiah – Frank Hebert
Read & Unread

I already read Dune, but I didn’t own a copy yet and after seeing the second movie I just had to get it. While I haven’t read the second book yet, I do want to after seeing the second movie. I really enjoyed both the book and the movies and I hope we are getting more movies!

End Result:
Read: 21/23 – 91%
TBR: 2/23 – 9%

So that’s another looking back at our bookhauls! Have you read any of these? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.
