A lot of authors have been announcing their adult debuts this year! Quite a few of these are YA authors who have written books that I’ve loved. That definitely has me excited to see what they do with writing for a different audience. So let’s talk about some YA author with adult debuts in 2025 that I’m excited about!
Alchemy of Secrets – Stephanie Garber
Stephanie Garber is known for her Caraval and Once Upon a Broken Heart series. Caraval was just okay for me, but I did really enjoy Once Upon a Broken Heart. Alchemy of Secrets sounds really good. Our main character visitsĀ the Watch Man and is told she’ll die tomorrow if she doesn’t find Alchemical Heart. I’m intrigued!
We Met Like This – Kasie West
Kasie West has written quite a few YA contemporary romances that I really enjoyed. The most recent one being Better Than Revenge, so I was very excited when she announced We Met Like This. The fact that the main character is a literary agent is the first thing that caught my eye. I also find it really interesting that the love interest is a guy she keeps matching with on dating apps even after they had a disastrous first date. I hope this one makes me laugh out loud.
Red City – Marie Lu
I really enjoyed Mari Lu’s Warcross duology, and Red City sounds really good. It’s described as The Godfather meets The Magicians. That’s definitely an interesting combination. We get magical warfare, star-crossed ambition, and the pursuit of perfection at any cost. Red City sounds like a book that will keep me on the edge of my seat.
For some reason I thought there were more that were releasing this year, but one I had in mind isn’t an adult debut, haha. Do you have any favorite authors who write for multiple audiences? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
