Tomorrow is the first day of May, which also means it’s a new month of releases. May tends to be a busier month for new books, so it’s time to take a look at our most anticipated May releases. Let’s see what books we’re looking forward to!
My Friends – Fredrik Backman (May 6th)
Ever since reading Beartown, I’ve been saying I need to read more by Fredrik Backman, and My Friends sounds like something I’ll love. Apparently, the bond of four teenage friends is so powerful it changes a stranger’s life years later. That sounds pretty intriguing. I also have a feeling it’s going to be emotional.
Shield of Sparrows – Devney Perry (May 6th)
The gods sent monsters to the five kingdoms to remind mortals they must kneel, okay I’m intrigued! This is a slow burn romantasy with enemies to lovers and it is marketed for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros. Yes please!
One Golden Summer – Carley Fortune (May 6th)
After reading Every Summer After, I was definitely curious about Charlie. I just never expected the author would give us his story. That’s all I know about One Golden Summer. I’m going to go in not knowing much.
What Happens in Amsterdam – Rachel Lynn Solomon (May 6th)
A marriage of convenience and it is set in Amsterdam. Honestly, do I even have to say anything else? I love this trope so much and I’m really excited to see how Amsterdam is described in this book.
A Curse Carved in Bone – Danielle L. Jensen (May 13th)
A Fate Inked in Blood was a story that had me hooked and I’ve been impatiently awaiting the sequel. I can’t wait to read the rest of Freya’s story!
Can’t Get Enough – Kennedy Ryan (May 13th)
Even though I still need to read the second book in this trilogy, I loved Before I Let Go. So I knew I needed to add Can’t Get Enough to my most anticipated releases. This is the third and final book in the Skyland trilogy and it’s time for Hendrix’s story.
Maine Characters – Hannah Orenstein (May 13th)
I’d read Maine Characters because of the cover alone, but the story also sounds very interesting. Our main characters find out they have a sibling they never knew about after their father passes. I definitely don’t know how I would react to that news. I have a feeling Maine Characters is going to be an emotional roller coaster.
Dream On, Ramona Riley – Ashley Herring Blake (May 13th)
Ashley Herring Blake is an auto-buy author for me and I’ve been really excited about Dream On, Ramona Riley. This time we’re getting a romance between a small-town waitress and a Hollywood star.
The Knight and the Moth – Rachel Gillig (May 20th)
This romantasy sounds really good, it’s by the author of One Dark Window. We’re getting a gothic story with diviners and the early reviews are really positive!
Heart of the Sun – Mia Sheridan (May 20th)
This is a bit of a New Adult dystopian, has a second chance romance, a popstar with her bodyguard, who also happen to be childhood best friend until something tore them apart. Hopefully it’s not too many good tropes together, because it all sounds good but also like a lot.
A Fate Forged in Fire – Hazel McBride (May 27th)
A Celtic-inspired fantasy romance that also sounds pretty feminist, I’m intrigued. It also has dragons and it sounds like the romance is enemies-to-lovers, couldn’t be better in my opinion haha.
It’s a Love Story – Annabel Monaghan (May 27th)
After reading Summer Romance last year, I knew I needed Annabel’s next book. It’s a Love Story has a main character who doesn’t believe in love. We all know that’s going to change during this book. I’m curious to see why she ends up changing her mind.
The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association – Caitlin Rozakis (May 27th)
I already wrote a Can’t Wait Wednesday post about this one a couple of months ago. This book sounds wonderful! Learning about a secret, magical society with a special school through a mom with a recently bitten by a werewolf daughter, sign me up.
So here are some of the May releases we’re looking forward to. Do we have any in common? Or are there any you think are missing from our list? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
