Looking Back at Our Bookhauls | February 2024

It’s the beginning of the month again, so it’s time to take a look back at our bookhaul from last year. We like to see if we actually read what we buy, so let’s take a look back at our February 2024 bookhaul. Have we read them all?

Candyce

In February 2024 I added 13 books to my shelves (3 were a gift and 1 was for a book tour). That’s not a bad amount. Let’s see what I’ve read since I hauled these books!

Bride – Ali Hazelwood
Read

Bride was Ali Hazelwood’s first paranormal romance and I loved it. I know there are some mixed reviews about this one, but it was fun! There’s actually a companion novel in this world releasing later this year. I’m looking forward to that.

At First Spite – Olivia Dade
Unread

Out of all of the books I added to my shelves this year, I’m actually surprised I haven’t read At First Spite. Spoiler Alert is one of my favorite romances, so I was excited when Olivia Dade announced this romance. I even own the Afterlight special edition. I’m hoping to read this one soon.

The Crimson Moth – Kristen Ciccarelli
Read

The Crimson Moth is the first book of this witch hunter/witch romance and it had me hooked. A lot happens in this one and I was grateful we had dual POV. The sequel just released, so I’ll be diving into that one in March.

A Sign of Affection Vol. 3 & Vol. 4 – Suu Morishita
Read

I received these two volumes of manga for Valentine’s Day last year and it didn’t take me long to read them. I’ve now read up to volume 10 and A Sign of Affection has become my favorite manga. It’s heartwarming and just fun to read. I may need to reread them all.

A Fate Inked in Blood – Danielle L. Jensen
Read

A Fate Inked in Blood is the start of a new fantasy romance series that I really enjoyed. I do have to say that I’m not sure how much I remember about this one. There’s a big chance I’ll need to do a reread before the sequel releases in May.

The Sword of Kaigen – M.L. Wang
Read

The Sword of Kaigen is a fantasy book I’ve seen all over the place and people seem to love this one. I wanted to love this one and I was okay up until the halfway mark, but I ended up not liking this one at all. I honestly don’t understand the hype.

Murder in the Bookstore – Sue Minix
Unread

I’ve been wanting to read more cozy mysteries and how could I resist one that takes place in a bookstore? That being said a friend and I did start a buddy read of this one. After about 75 pages in we were both kind of bored? I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t the right moment for the book or if this one just isn’t for me. I do want to try it again.

Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands – Heather Fawcett
Read

Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands was another cozy fantasy in this series and I had a great time. Emily and Wendell are fun characters and I loved all of the others we met during this installment. I’m excited about the third and final book that just released last month.

Thieves’ Gambit – Kayvion Lewis
Unread

I’m always someone who will want to read a fantasy book that has some kind of competition! Thieves’ Gambit is described as The Inheritance Games meets Ocean Eleven. I’m intrigued. The sequel is out in the world, so it’s time to read this one as well.

Fangirl Down – Tessa Bailey
Unread

This is a series I’m reading out of order for some reason. I’ve read the second and third book, but haven’t read Fangirl Down yet. I love sports romances, but I have yet to read a golf romance, so I’m curious!

A Cursed Son – Day Leitao
Unread

A Cursed Son is a book I received for a book tour and I have to say this book is stunning. I haven’t read this one yet, but I have recently been reading more fantasy romance, so I’ll have to keep this one in mind

Hate – Tate James
Read

As I said in the bookhaul, the Madison Kate series was my introduction to dark romance and I loved it! When they started getting traditionally published I had to get a copy. I even reread this whole series last year.

End Result
Read: 8/13 – 61.5%
TBR: 5/13 – 38.5%

Isabelle

I wasn’t sure what to expect when looking back at my February 2024 bookhaul. That was when I was feeling a bit down (I started therapy back up soon after actually) and this bookhaul reminded me that I did a bit of retail therapy. So I did get some new books that month!

Diary of a Romantica vol. 1: Lovers Forgotten – Celia Martinez
Read

This was my first poetry collection in a while and I absolutely adored it. I follow Celia on TikTok and Instagram and she writes amazing poems. It for sure inspired me to write some poetry myself to get out some feelings. I would highly recommend following her and getting her poetry collections (she has another one!).

Fence vol. 6: Redemption – C.S. Pacat & Johanna the Mad
Read

This is possibly my favorite graphic novel series so I had to get volume 6 when I realised it was out. Ever since reading it I have been stalking Goodreads in the hopes of finding out something about volume 7, but no luck yet haha.

Saga vol. 11 – Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Read

Luckily there is a release date for the next volume in the Saga series, (May 13th if you were wondering). I really like this sci-fi graphic novel series, as do a lot of people. While I am permanently broken and still not over something that happened volumes ago, and therefor I don’t think I can ever truly love these later volumes…. This was an enjoyable volume and I’m very much looking forward to the next one.

End Result
Read: 3/3 – 100%
TBR: 0/3 – 0%
