It’s time for our first 2025 bookhaul! January went fast and was slow at the same time. Did we add any new books to our shelves? Let’s take a look and find out!
Candyce
One of my 2025 goals is to add less physical books to my shelves and really tackle my backlist books. In January I actually did pretty good. I added 5 books to my shelves, and I’ll talk about a book that should’ve been on my December bookhaul (it wasn’t delivered until December 31st). Also, one of the books I’ve already read!
The Wrong Heart – Jennifer Hartmann
The Wrong Heart is the final book I added to my shelves in 2024! This book sounds like such an emotional roller coaster, but one I need to read. Our main character’s husband dies and his heart is donated. She ends up meeting the man who gets his heart.
Kingmakers: Year Four – Sophie Lark
As you know if you’ve been following us for a while, I really enjoy Sophie’s books. The Kingmakers series is being traditionally published and the first editions have beautiful sprayed edges. So I’m collecting this series as they release once a month.
God of Ruin – Rina Kent
Just like the Kingmakers series, the Legacy of Gods series is being traditionally published and the first editions have pretty sprayed edges. I want to try and read as much of Rina’s backlist as I can this year, so I’m adding these to my shelves.
Water Moon – Samantha Sotto Yambao
It’s been a few months since I didn’t skip my Illumicrate subscription, but Water Moon just sounds so good. A pawn shop where you can sell your regrets is such an interesting concept. Also, look at how stunning this cover is.
Cruel is the Light – Sophie Clark
I was really glad when I figured out the Fairyloot YA book would be Cruel is the Light. This fantasy book has a demon hunter and forbidden love? Sign me up! That’s all I really know and what I want to know before starting this book.
Under Loch and Key – Lana Ferguson
Under Loch and Key released in December and I read the eBook when my Discord book club had it as a weekly read. This paranormal romance was one I ended up loving and I’m glad I have this gorgeous edition on my shelves. And it didn’t add to my physical TBR, haha.
Isabelle
Like Candyce I try to be more mindful of the amount of books I’m buying and I’ve been doing quite well with that the last two years or so. Hopefully I can keep it up this year! January was a good start with only 1 new book, and it’s one I read right away!
Onyx Storm – Rebecca Yarros
Of course I had to get the newest book in the Empyrean series. I read the first 2 books last summer and had been eagerly anticipating this release. A coworker picked a copy up for the both of us and I started reading it right away! Now I have to wait until we get the next one haha.
So that’s our first bookhaul of the year! Did you add any new books to your shelves in January? Tell us about them in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
