Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| January 2025

It’s time for our first looking back at our 2025 bookhauls! I can’t believe it’s time for the scariest post of the month, haha. I honestly don’t remember how many books I added to my shelves in January 2025, but let’s take a look!

In January I added 5 books to my shelves and 1 that should’ve been in my December bookhaul, but the subscription box was late with shipping books.

The Wrong Heart – Jennifer Hartmann
Unread

I think out of the six books in this haul that I’m most surprised I haven’t read The Wrong Heart yet. Jennifer Hartmann writes books that make you feel all of the feelings. I tend to love books like this. Also, the idea of this woman meeting the man who received her husband’s heart is a concept I think is interesting in books like these.

Kingmakers: Year Four – Sophie Lark
Unread

Just like I’ve said in the last few looking back at our bookhaul posts, I decided to collect this series with pretty sprayed edges. Kingmakers is on my list of series I need to read in 2026.

God of Ruin – Rina Kent
Unread

God of Ruin is the same as the fourth Kingmakers book. I decided to collect this series with pretty sprayed edges. In March I’ll be working on the next Rina Kent series, so I’m slowly making my way to reading this series.

Water Moon – Samantha Sotto Yambao
Unread

The concept of there being a pawn shop where you can sell your regrets to still really interests me. Even more so since I read this author’s newest book, The Elsewhere Express. My edition of Water Moon is stunning, but I think some negative reviews put me off of reading this right away. Now that I loved Samantha’s newest release, I need to go back and give Water Moon a try.

Cruel is the Light – Sophie Clark
Unread

I actually just got the audiobook for Cruel is the Light, so I need to make it a priority really soon. This book still gives me Shadowhunter vibes, so I have a feeling I’ll love it.

Under Loch and Key – Lana Ferguson
Read

Under Loch and Key was the only book I read from my January bookhaul. That’s a big oops! It was a book I did really enjoy. Which ended up being rather surprising, because I’m not the biggest fan of monster romance.

End Result:
Read: 1/6 – 16.7%
TBR: 5/6 – 83.3%

It’s always interesting to see what books I’ve added to my collection over the years. I really am trying to get better at reading them, haha. January 2025 didn’t go that well this time around. Hopefully I can say that I’ve read more of my February 2025 books…
