Bookish Item | 2024 Reading Goals Wrap Up Part 1

Now that we have started the new year, it’s time to reflect on the old one. Today I wanted to take a look at my 2024 reading goals and see how I did. Did I manage to achieve all that I planned or did I fail in some (or all) areas? Let’s take a look!

Goodreads Challenge
52 books

This was a great success! I managed to read 93 books this year and I’m so happy with that. There have been years when I read a lot more than that, but last year I only read 57 books and the year before even less with 47 books. So yes, this was really good. The fact that I read a lot of manga because of my Haikyu obsession might have something to do with it, but a book is a book.

Netgalley Feedback Ratio
50%

This one I failed miserably at haha. My ratio got even worse since the start of 2024. It was 43% and it currently stands at 39%….. 2024 was not the year in which I read my eARC’s. Hopefully I can do better this year, I have a lot of very exciting eARC’s waiting for me.

Physical TBR
24 books

Another great one. I read 45 books I have on my physical TBR. And while some were new purchases, I did end the year with a lower physical TBR than I started the year with. That was also part of the goal and something I struggled with for years. So yes, I consider this one a big success.

Big Books
12 books

Rereads helped A LOT with this goal, but I ended up reading 22 big books. 13 of those were rereads, but 9 of them were first timers. And I think I’m okay with that! Audiobooks have really helped me with this as well and I hope I can get through even more of my big books this way.

Finish Series
6 series

This has been one of my most challenging goals for years, but I can finally say I managed to finish 6 series this year!!! Some I had started years and years ago, others were more recent. But I still did it. A couple of those ‘older’ books I think I would’ve enjoyed more if I read them when they were first published so I hope that realisation makes me pick up other sequels quicker.

And that was my reading goals wrap up! I set myself 5 reading goals in 2024 and I’m proud to say I achieved 4 of those. 80% is probably my highest score yet haha. I really enjoyed my reading year and I hope I have another one like it! Do you set yourself any reading goals? And how did it go this year? I would love to hear from you!
