Bookish Item| 2025 Reading Goals Part 1

It’s hard to believe it’s actually time to be writing a post about my 2025 reading goals. I feel like a broken record saying that 2024 flew by, but it really did. 2024 has been a great reading year for me, and I’ve read the most I’ve ever read in a year. So I’m hoping 2025 is going to be just as amazing if not even more so, so let’s take a look at my reading goals.

Read 100 Books

At the moment I’m working on this post, I’ve read 321 books so far in 2024. This has been my best reading year ever! So I know I can easily read 100 books in a year. I will keep my goal here though, because I don’t want reading to become a chore. It needs to stay fun and I just like seeing how far I get in a year.

Increase My Netgalley Ratio

At the end of 2023, my feedback ratio was 32% (108 approved/35 feedback sent). I have been working on my Netgalley this year and my feedback ratio is currently 45% (170 approved/77 feedback sent). So even though I have added 62 books to my shelves, I’ve also read 42 of them this year. It’s not the 60% I was hoping for this year, but I am improving. I’m determined to get at least 60% next year. Hopefully this is the year I finally make it.

Read Big Books

In 2023, I ended up reading 18 books that were 500+ pages. At the moment, I’ve read 18 books that were 500+ pages, so I’ll probably be ending the year with a few more than in 2023. There are still so many big books on my TBR, so I’m hoping to read even more next year.

Work on Catching Up On/Finishing Series

This year I’ve realized that it gets hard to continue with series when there has been a lot of time between reading the previous book and a newer one. I would be able to prevent this by reading series closer together. I think I’ve finished 11 series so far this year. I’m not completely sure though. So next year, I’m determined to really work on this.

Read Backlist Books

I’ve currently read 70 backlist books! With over 500 unread physical books I really want to keep this going. This year I’ve read quite a few books I ended up loving and being mad at myself for taking so long to read, haha. Mood reading has really been something I’ve loved this year.

Actually Finish All of the Books I Start (or DNF)

I’m a reader who gets easily distracted and often have 8 books on the go. This also means that quite a few books I end up starting just sit there and stay that way for months before I go back to them. If I even go back to them. Most of the time, I’m really enjoying them, but just want to read something else that pops up. Sometimes I’m debating if I’m loving one. So next year, I really want to make an effort to either finish a book I pick up or DNF. I don’t want to know how many books I’ve started this year and never finished.

Add Less Physical Books to My Shelves

As I said, I have over 500 unread books on my shelves and space is starting to run out again. This year I got myself a Kobo Libra Color and a new Kindle (with KU). So in 2025, I want to focus on my physical backlist, eARCs, and other eBooks on my eReaders. I will continue to get my Fairyloot books. I want to be more strict with myself and if I buy a book to make sure I read it in the same month or the next.

As you can see I have some repeat goals from last year, but also some new ones. I’m excited to work on these next year. Are you setting any reading goals for yourself next year? Do we have any in common? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Lots of great goals. I kind of panicked that I had over 100 unread books when I counted this summer and I can´t belive you have that many unread, and probably so many amazing ones amongst them too! I have organized and unhaul some books so in the beginning of next year I “only” have 65, but with an exchange shelf close to work and some neighbours reading amazing books and then shares them I have a feeling I might add a few more although I said I will focus on my unread next year 😛
