Show Sunday | First Impression: Dune: Prophecy

As you might know, I love the Dune movies (and really need to continue reading the books). The TV show Dune: Prophecy was one of my most anticipated shows of the year, so when my brother called me to remind me the first episode dropped a couple of weeks ago, I immediately started watching it. And after the first couple of episodes are available to watch, I wanted to share my first impression of the show. So let’s jump in!

Two Harkonnen sisters combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.

The fourth episode will be available on HBO Max tomorrow, and I just realised I have yet to watch episode three! So tomorrow will be a good day for me haha.

Like I said, my brother reminded me that Dune: Prophecy started a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I started watching and got the HBO opening screen I was hit with that feeling Game of Thrones used to give me. I was so excited and after watching an episode I immediately want to talk to my brother about it. We saw both Dune movies together in the cinema and I love connected over a show like this.

This show is set many, many, many years before the story from the movies (and thus the books) and focusses on the Bene Gesserit. It’s so interesting seeing the families you know, hear of places you remember, but it all being just a little bit different with different dynamics and such.

So far, I really like the story and I can’t wait to watch more. I believe there will be 6 episodes total, so we’re halfway through, and so far the episodes have all been a little over an hour. You truly get sucked in and I love it! I’ll admit, having Travis Fimmel (who you might know as Ragnar from Vikings) as Desmond Hart helps a lot haha. He is great to look at and I’m really curious about the rest of his story!

After two episodes, I can say that I am really invested and have high hopes for the rest of the series. It gives me that early Game of Thrones feeling of excitement and I would highly recommend this show to you all! Have you watched the first episodes yet? What do you think of it? I would love to hear from you!
