We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Oldest (aka Earliest Published) Books On My TBR. This was a pretty easy list to compile. I started with the number 10 oldest and made my way down to the absolute oldest book on my TBR. So let’s get into it!
1. The Fiery Cross – Diana Gabaldon
2001
I kinda forgot about this series to be honest! It’s been a while since I read the previous book in the series and I still need to watch the tv show. These books are huge, so I usually listen to the audiobook. Might have to pick back up with this one!
2. The Shadow of the Wind – Carlos Ruiz Zafón
2001
I have been wanting to read this one for so long now! It’s been on my TBR for years, but I have to admit; this might be one of those books I want to have read but I don’t actually feel like reading it if you know what I mean.
3. The Island of the Colorblind – Oliver Sacks
1997
This one was gifted to me years ago and since it’s a nonfiction book it might take me a while before I finally pick it up. I don’t read nonfiction books that often and I have a couple on my TBR I’m more interested in than this one.
4. Assassin’s Apprentice – Robin Hobb
1995
This one I do really want to read! And a kid in my class was reading it as well so now I’m extra excited to pick it up. I should really read it soon so I can discuss the book with him, he would really like that I think!
5. Sabriel – Garth Nix
1995
I have read the first book in the sequel series to this original trilogy. Ever since I have been wanting to read this book and hopefully make my way through the whole series. I have heard some good things about this one but I also might’ve outgrown the story, we will see!
6. The Last Wish – Andrzej Sapkowski
1993
I have been planning on reading this one for such a long time now! Because I still haven’t read it, I also haven’t watched the tv show yet. I hope to read this one soonish so I can finally start the show as well haha.
7. Magician: Apprentice – Raymond E. Feist
1982
I’ll admit, I totally forgot I even even owned this one. And I’m not even sure what it’s about. So it will probably be a while before I pick this one up. I quickly looked up some reviews but it looks like none of my friends have read this one so I can’t count on their judgement either.
8. The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
1937
This is another one I have been planning on reading for a while now. I have see all the movies and really loved them. But now it’s time to finally read the books. This isn’t a big book at all so it should be a quick enough read.
9. Lud-in-the-Mist – Hope Mirrlees
1926
I adore this cover! But I’ll admit, this might be another one I want to have read but I don’t feel like reading it (at least not right now). It’s also another one none of my friends have read and I’m not sure how I found it. One day I will read it!
10. The Black Tulip – Alexandre Dumas
1850
I love this cover I have so much! While I don’t really read classics, I do still want to read this one. It’s set in the Netherlands and I’m really excited to see the author’s perspective on our country during that time.
And those are the 10 oldest books on my TBR! Have you read any of these? What’s the oldest book on your TBR? I would love to hear from you!
I have The Hobbit on my list too! I haven’t read any of these books either but I hope you’ll love them when you read them 🙂

Great list – hope you get to read them soon! I also have Sabriel to read!
